Hello everyone,
I'm going to try to shed some light on this topic if it can help you.
Normally, you don't need an amplifier to connect your speakers to your television.
You need to make sure that the RCA connections on your television are outputs and not inputs. On some televisions, there are only RCA audio inputs.
If you go to this webpage, you'll see what types of connections exist on televisions.

In the image on the link, the only RCA outputs (where you can connect your speakers) are the ones located in the middle (below the variable woofer).
As for other options, you can connect your speakers to the headphone jack of your television, or to the optical output (digital audio) but for the latter you will need to buy an amplifier.
I hope I've solved your problem.
See you and enjoy.
