Hello, I’m going to be quite blunt.
It’s not up to you to judge whether we want to keep the warranty or not; it is not illegal to unlock a player, remember when they all used to be multi-zone at first, but to make money they locked them to specific zones. If I tell you that I regularly go to Quebec and buy DVDs or Blu-rays, that’s legal, so why prevent me from watching them?
I find it bold of you not to disclose this information; if the players were not intended to unlock zones, we wouldn’t be able to do it. If there is a possibility to do so and you know about it, it is illegal (yes) to trade on it. Most IT professionals are profiteers and selfish.
Here is my opinion.

You can own a multi-region or multi-zone player, but what is prohibited is buying a film abroad when it is not yet distributed in the country where you live; indeed, these sales are subject to rights, and each country has its distributors. It is also true that you lose the warranty, unless you go back through the store that made the modification, then there are no worries.
