My PS3 won't read games anymore! Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I bought a PS3 60G two years ago and it hasn't had any problems, but I haven't turned it on for a little over a month and now I can't read games. Here's what's happening: I turn it on, insert the game, it detects it, I launch it and then: black screen.

And here I am again! I contacted the PS3 customer service (0820 31 32 33) and I have the two possible solutions:

1- Start the PS3, remove the game, restart it. Turn it back on, go to Settings > System Settings > Default Settings. If this first solution doesn't work, try the second one.

2- There should be no disc in the drive or any other disc, it needs to be in standby (Red L.E.D). Press and hold the On/Off button, you'll hear a first beep, a second one, and then a DOUBLE beep. If the beep is not double, repeat the operation until it is. Once that's done, you'll arrive at a menu. You need to select the third option. Then follow the instructions. Normally it should work again, if not, try again and choose the fifth option.
If it still doesn't work: Your Play is dead!

Me too, when I turn on the console, everything goes well except that lady decided to no longer read the games, my DVDs (burned) work, the Blu-rays too, but CoD 6 and 7 don't show up as well as FIFA 11! Basically, the game launch icon doesn't appear! HELP!

Thank you Gatoo, however I have already tried the third one, but nothing came of it.. I will test the fifth one when I have copied all my data because I have several accounts for midnight Los Angeles.. when I see people complaining about the Play, they ruin me those types.. for me it's the third one and with 60 gigabytes that gives me the same trouble.. knowing that with the first one, I lost all my data and trophies.. in summary soon the fourth one, but with the games and the rest, it's starting to get expensive.. but that's the first versions because I got the Xbox when it came out, and I burnt it in just two nights.. the bottom line is that there are a lot of common points between next generation consoles, particularly that maybe as one complainant said: THE SCAM OF THE CENTURY!!

Hello little geniuses, I'm here to tell you that the last PlayStation I sent to the service center, they told me it would take 10 business days and then I'd have to wait two or three weeks to get it back, so to speak, damn it..! I did get a 60GB back (after three months, OH YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!!) because they don’t repair anymore, so sayonara trophies if the PSN doesn’t recognize your account and the data, if you don’t have 10 USB keys to copy them... I'm having the same problem, but I noticed that if I go to ==> settings ===> network settings ==> internet connection ==> disabled.
After that, the playback works fine; I feel like there is an issue only when the internet connection is active, and I can't find anyone else who is in the same situation as me. If someone has a black screen problem when launching the game could try, that would be cool!

I have a big problem; my PlayStation is seriously glitching.
Let me explain:
I wanted to download a "game" and I left my PlayStation on for about 1 to 2 hours. When I came back, my Play was on, but it wasn't working (I've had this happen before). I restarted it, and I saw that it turned on, but you can see the loading icon in the top right corner spinning endlessly. When I try to turn it off, it beeps twice. :( Basically, my PlayStation is dead, please help me. ;(

I was playing peacefully on MW3, the image froze, I turned off my PlayStation and turned it back on, and it no longer reads the discs.

Hi, I had this problem after several months without playing. When I wanted to insert a new game, the screen turned black. I called Sony on their premium rate number, and then the guy on the phone told me that the lens of the disc drive was burnt out. He then said to take the PS3 to a video game retailer, who would then send it to Sony. The delay is about 3 months or more, costing 150 to 200 euros!

Me too, today I was playing MW3 online and at the end of the match the image froze, so my PS3 can no longer read the games. I tried a music CD and it works, but when I put in a game, it tries to read it and makes a noise like it’s going to eject the game, but the game stays inside. It's a slim console with 250GB. The problem can be caused by different things, but the one that will come to you the most is either the optical block has an issue, or the Blu-ray lens simply no longer reads games; these are extremely common problems. You have several solutions: either you dismantle your PS3 (several videos are available on YouTube to guide you) down to your casing; sometimes the Blu-ray lens is dirty, so you just need to clean it with a cotton swab and 90° alcohol. Personally, I have never tried it, but since my PS3 savagely broke down in mid-June, I think I have waited long enough for a solution to fall from the sky... Another solution is that you can try to change the optical block, the lens, etc. yourself, but the prices are not very friendly, and nothing guarantees that it will work. You can also take it to the store's repairman, but generally, they are real money suckers; the consultation fee and repair costs will certainly amount to the price of a new PS3! You might say, yes, but it depends on what needs to be repaired; well, the problem is that what needs to be repaired is something related to the Blu-ray lens or the entire optical block! And according to the seller I consulted, that is the most expensive part to repair in a PS3!

I also have a little question on the side to finish this: a PS3 that no longer reads game discs (I see the clock spinning when I put my game in and at one point I hear this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I7hYJ-NdQ0&feature=related) could still read downloadable games? I mean, is it still possible to play by downloading from the PlayStation Store?
