My PS3 won't read my DVDs anymore.

Hello,

I'm really struggling with technology right now because I'm facing nothing but problems, so I hope you can help me.

This time it's with my PS3.

It no longer reads DVDs: I went across the Atlantic, and to connect, I'm now using HDMI on my flat screen that I purchased over there. When I launch a DVD from my screen, a black screen appears for a few seconds, then I get "no data detected" even though my PS3 is still on. When I was connected via SCART to my old TV (Sony with a cathode screen), it worked, but now with my recently purchased flat screen TV, it doesn't work anymore.

After rebooting and trying several times, I went into the settings, but nothing works.

I turned my console back on by holding the On/Off button for 5 seconds, accessed a menu with 5 or 6 options and chose to restore my data...

... and I was wrong because since then, I can't launch my favorite games because my PS3 informs me that the save data belongs to another user and that the game will be closed. Bull S***. (error message "80022D11")

I bought a console to avoid hassle, but now I see that Sony continues to treat me like an idiot.

Anyway, my situation is worsening, and I can't find any solutions online.

Moreover, I am not allowed to save (on my USB stick) certain games like GT5 and it would really piss me off to have to start everything over because I've almost finished it).

Thank you for helping me.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 7.0.1

Thank you for the response,

But I assure you that my DVDs aren't working
I bought my PS3 in France
The DVDs I've tried are French and are originals.

Question: it seemed to me that I understood when I talked with the seller that there was no zone problem except for Blu-rays.
