And wouldn't Orange take this opportunity to add a bit of trouble? I wouldn't be surprised by them...
Groundless accusation without any source of justification.
I give him justification: intended or not, a cable was disconnected by them in the PC block of my building (decision from a day of expertise). However, I assume it was unintentional because they must surely be paying fines...
A Free customer for 2 years, I had no issues during my first year. Then, the troubles flowed with completely stubborn support operators who only read their procedures without trying to understand the customer’s problem...
I've had this issue since June 2007, it calmed down at the end of 2007 and is starting again now. By pushing hard on the chat, I managed to get a new power supply. But the reboots are still there.
Is anyone currently having this issue? I started to contact a branch of the UFC-Que Choisir association. If any of you have a miracle solution, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I've exhausted all other avenues and I will have no choice but to initiate legal proceedings against Free because all complaints to their customer service have hit a dead end since the operators don’t have my case in the notes they read on their screens... and they become inventive at politely brushing me off.
I must note that from the beginning my Freebox has been on a power strip and that for a year I had no issues... I noted that Free changed its network in June 2007 by implementing PHYR... could this have an impact?

brupala, why are you giving the same URL as the current one?
Personally, if I'm posting here, it's because I've tried (or checked) various solutions from the topic beforehand...
Now, if there are still people having this kind of issues, the idiots over at Free (yep, they deserve that honorary title after months of pointless discussion with them!) are not going to suggest this (temporary?) solution:
Raise your line level to "fastpath" mode. In the administration console, I sacrificed my good speed in "normal" mode for a slower speed but without rebooting, that is to say the one in "serenity" mode.
Now that I've noticed this fact (their line is becoming crappy), I will be able to bolster my file while hoping this lead can help some people.

What are you talking about?
About post <53>?
It doesn't concern you if you look closely.
That's the jumble when everyone comes to add their problem to a discussion that is about someone else's and it constantly leads me to paste this

I am indeed referring to post 53. I never said that this post was addressed to me, if you read my reply. I just hope that those who post their issues try the solutions already discussed in this thread, as I have done.
However, sorry for my bluntness, but I don't understand any of your links which lead to no relevant information. Unless there's some hidden info? The links lead to generic pages and not to targeted information that answers the person's request. The reason I feel compelled to respond is that I am taking this opportunity to follow this topic in case there are new, relevant, and exclusive pieces of information that could resolve my own issue.
From my perspective, I don't see any jumble: just people gathering under the topic of "Freebox reboot" who aren't finding effective solutions. This topic just seems vast, and one can observe the same anomaly that must surely be resolved differently depending on configurations since there is no universal solution to the problem stated in the title of this thread.

Indeed,
everything is here: no universal solution or magic wand.
each case is specific and mostly related to the FBX environment: faulty power supply, transmission issues on the telephone line, excessive heat, damaged cables, electromagnetic disturbances...
and the rest must be classic hardware failures on electronic equipment that is no exception to the rule.
PS:
if my links often lead to posts already written in the discussion, it's because not everyone is like you: many post their message without reading anything from the current discussion, which we unfortunately witness constantly; take a look at the old discussions, you'll understand.

Well, here is some interesting information: a list of possibilities. This kind of reflection is very relevant and can help move things forward. Thank you.
However, when I look at your last link, I see that it leads to a list of topics that update. Therefore, it isn't necessarily related to this subject, and (rather "I" actually) do not understand at all what the point is: and to understand, it doesn't make me want to read each topic in this long list.
I understand well and I've noticed this behavior on many forums: arriving and then asking a question without having done any prior research. That's why people need to be taught to be respectful. Presenting preliminary research is a sign of respect towards those providing help to a posed question. Not everything is handed to you on a plate :)
However, thank you for your kindness, Mr. Moderator: I shouldn't be replying here since it clearly states, "If you have the same problem, please create a new discussion." Nevertheless, I find this idea quite ineffective because it multiplies the searches around the same problem and one quickly gets lost...

Not at all:
it allows for shorter, more focused discussions that don't go off in all directions and are therefore more effective overall.
When a discussion has 50 more or less useful posts (with the same question repeated 15 times), it makes no one want to read it.
It's easier to read 50 discussions of 10 posts than one of 500; that’s when you really can get lost.
But indeed,
I shouldn't respond here as it's clearly stated: "If you have the same problem, please create a new discussion"
If you have comments or suggestions regarding how to construct discussions, the forum "suggestions" is meant for that.
Thank you for your honesty and your relatively constructive thoughts, in any case.

booooohh come on, let’s not get worked up!!! rrriiilax guys
anyway, I had a similar problem to yours but I found a solution. My Freebox was having reboot issues, which drove me crazy, I must admit!!
It got so frustrating that I found quite a radical solution!
I ran a new telephone line from one end of my house to the delivery point (my new phone socket where the Freebox was connected)!
I also took the opportunity to give it its own power socket (well, it's not completely alone on it, it shares with my landline phone base which has a negligible consumption of a few milliamps)
well, listen, I also didn’t read the whole post, but a good part of it, and I’m posting this message because I think it corresponds to yours!
as for external hard drives, their transformers (usually plug blocks) can send a little disturbance in the sine wave of the alternating current (delivered in your sockets). I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but if they are plugged into the same power strip, maybe the Freebox transformer is too sensitive to those disturbances???????
anyway, at least try moving it to a clean electrical circuit.
best regards youns94
PS: don’t start cabling work like I did if you’re not sure of what you’re doing, plus I did it because my cable was damaged in several places.

Hi,
no, don’t feel alone.
I just received my Freebox HD 10 days ago and ever since, it crashes every 5 minutes.
I don’t know what it feels like to watch TV for more than 10 consecutive minutes.
I'm more than on edge, and I really think it's going to go out the window because it's driving me crazy.
I can’t take it anymore, I’ve tried everything, at least everything that this lousy Free support hotline told me to do.
What can I do?
Request a technician who will charge me for a pointless visit?
Moreover, when I called them, they said they weren’t made aware of this problem.
So, in addition to being thieves, they are liars.
I think we should start an association to fight against Free who provide us with faulty devices.
In the meantime, I still don’t have a solution to watch TV like normal people do;
I wish you good luck.
See you soon.

We kindly ask you to adhere to the charter and to be particularly meticulous when writing your discussions:
- no insulting terms
- stick to your own experience and to facts for which you have tangible evidence
- avoid value judgments and generalizations
- never post on a forum the identity or any other private data of a person without their consent.
These precautions help maintain the quality of exchanges while limiting the risks of moderation and, both for you and for us, the inconveniences of legal proceedings and a possible forum closure due to a few awkward words.
Thank you for taking this into account.
PS: normal people, like before, buy a TV set and an antenna to watch TV and... sometimes, it works.
miraculous, right?

Anyway, the disconnections might happen when the bandwidth is high (like during downloads, for example). Is this something you have noticed too?
I quite agree, whenever I do heavy downloading it starts to go haywire for quite a while. I recently got the V5, all set up and everything, but it keeps rebooting just like the V4 during heavy downloads!

Same problem, my freedox kept rebooting all the time
I installed ferrites to filter out interference and miracle, no more reboots
info found on this site that helped me a lot https://mon-internet.info/332181660678293392-vector-christmas-png-clipart/

I've had the FreeBox v5 for 3 days, and it keeps disconnecting.
But it's not a power cut (reboot) because it happens every 5 minutes, and the date of the last reboot is earlier, so it seems like it's more of a DSL synchronization loss.
But after 2 years with the V4, I've never had this problem, so I don't question the installation (neither electrical nor phone).
By the way, I have WakeOnLan enabled... how about you?

You are not the only one; it's the same for me. I've done the same connection 50 times, and they tell me it will be better, but it's all nonsense; they’re just messing with people's heads.
Personally, it's the opposite; I had problems with the V4 that kept rebooting all the time. I asked to switch to V5, and since then, no more issues. Honestly, we really struggle with this kind of Freebox, but their device isn't always very reliable, and they don't want to admit it. I think that's the problem. So, exchanging the Freebox is still the best thing to do.
Hi, I've been having the same problem for several weeks. While chatting with friends, one of them mentioned that his Orange Livebox kept rebooting and he realized it started happening after he plugged in a surge protector. I had also bought one for €10, and when I heard that, it made me think. So this morning I unplugged everything and removed it, and since then, it's been working. I hope it'll be the same for you. You can also check if you don't have any capacitors in your phone sockets and don't hesitate to plug your Freebox into another phone socket, you never know. Good luck and keep us posted. Kisses.
Hello everyone, I'm facing the same problem.
See something even stranger...
My Freebox randomly reboots, sometimes I can go weeks without a problem and other times it just keeps rebooting.
Even more strange, when someone opens the garage (electric garage door) the Freebox crashes so there's no connection.
I also called the hotline, and they wanted to send a technician, and the same story, if the problem comes from you and blah blah blah it's charged.
A few days later a technician calls back (even though we hadn't requested anything) and we ask him to come only if he guarantees that we won't have to pay anything, and then he tells me, for example, if you don't use the original Ethernet cables from Free, the problem could be on your end... Big nonsense.
So I thought about an electrical cause with the garage issue.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, it would be very helpful :)
PS: My house is three-phase in terms of electricity.

Same problem.... 2 technicians came last year (June 2009), found nothing... offered to change my box and there was a MIRACLE, no more reboots....
Until April 2010!
Since then it has started again!
I think that the Freebox units just have a short lifespan.....

Wow! Today, July 2010!!! Having the same annoying sync issue every 10 minutes, I'm browsing the internet to solve this irritating problem to the point of wanting to throw the Freebox out the window... I'm wandering around the internet, forums, and other morasses, and what do I see? Nothing, nada, no solution other than bizarre hard reboots, calls to the customer service that feel like scams given the quality of information, cleaning the socket, or having a technician come to the house who charges an exorbitant price, interrupted by changing DNS addresses (a friend who’s a computer expert informs me that DNS relates to the service providers' servers, so the issue doesn't come from my side!)... it's nonsense when you realize in the end that THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT RESOLVED!!!
(as I write this, I’ve had my dose of sync issues, yay!)
I have only one solution: CANCELLATION!!!
Thank you, oh charming provider full of good intentions towards its customers with the sole aim of "bleeding" our wallets!
After Orange and their misleading advertising, here comes Free thinking they're better than they really are!
Next up: Neuf (how long am I going to last?)

3 years after the posts written above, the problem persists; I have exactly the same reboot issues and, by pushing through and timing it, I realized that the reboot occurs every 7 minutes and 20 seconds precisely for several days, at least for my box. I’m on the trail of overheating components because, like many others struggling above, I've tried everything, and the only thing that has somewhat limited the damage recently is moving it away from any heat source, but that doesn't completely solve the problem for now. I’ll come back here if I have another lead. Otherwise, I’ve already initiated the process of changing operators by switching to fiber since I am finally eligible.
Good luck to those who don’t have much choice; Free is, in my impression, a hit or miss—either it’s top speed or it’s a total hassle given the complete lack of support.

Hello,
Late, but while searching for answers to my problem, I finally found the solution.
I'll summarize the issue: the FreeBox ADSL was rebooting via 8888 every day, and I noticed it mainly happened when the computer was on and I was checking my emails for the first time that day.
So, I tried to follow the advice of yons94.
By distancing the power supply of the FreeBox from all other power supplies like the phone, hard drives, etc., as well as from the proximity of the PC. I also plugged it into a separate outlet, and it hasn't rebooted since.
Then, for convenience, I ran a dedicated electrical line just for this little device, which is very sensitive to electrical line interference as well as induced or radiated noise.
So if you're facing this problem, keep the power supply for the FreeBox away from other power supplies and plug it into a different electrical outlet using an extension cord for testing.
If it works, then try to find a setup that suits you.
I hope these explanations will help many people resolve the reboot issue that occurs through 8888.
P.S.: I had my box replaced, but ultimately it was for nothing, as the problem stemmed from what I've just explained.

The reboot issue has returned, but less frequently. It appears that it is now due to the connection of the printer to the USB port of the FreeBox ADSL.
When I had the previous version of the FB ADSL, I had no issues with the same setup, but unfortunately, it has died, and since I got a slightly newer model, the problems have started. The model I currently have: F-ADSL 05A 2-BR
If someone has the same issues, it would be great to follow up on my comments to help others.
