VERY VERY SLOW Internet...

Solved

Hello, here is my problem. For some time now, my internet connection has been so slow that I'm about to go crazy.

I contacted my provider; I have no modem issues, I've even tested my speed on their website (videotron.com). It's excellent... My connection is Extreme High Speed, and once every two times, the pages won't even load. And when they do load, I feel like I'm using a 56k...

I used CCleaner, which I run every day by the way. I unchecked the option to erase everything older than 48 hours.

I have Spybot, up to date, vaccinated, last scan in normal mode and safe mode, it found nothing, no spyware.

AVG Anti Spyware, same thing, safe mode and normal mode, still nothing.

Adaware, same result, safe mode and normal mode, still nothing.

Windows Defender, same thing!!

Avast… And yes, still nothing.

Each scan was done for the entire hard drive, + registry, etc.

My OS is WinXP Service Pack 2
My PC is Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
2GB RAM DDR X 2

Please, someone help me, I’m fed up. I’m two seconds away from formatting because I've had enough, what scares me, however, is that even if I format, I'm not sure it will fix the problem.

This is the first time I'm asking for a hand, usually, I solve everything myself, but now I’m lost, I have no idea how to find the $&?@ problem.

I ran a scan with HIJACK THIS that I’m providing here, I hope to hear from you soon, thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Steve

Thank you again to everyone, it's nice to see that there is still "live" help on the internet. I admit that I wasn't patient enough, but oh well, too late, I've formatted, and the problem is solved. I don't know what it was, but oh well.

With that said, hello to everyone, sincerely thanking you once again.

Hi.. Well, I might have a solution to the very, very slow browser issue.. This has happened to me a few times for no reason since I got my PC, and of course, I'm using IE7, but this applies to all IE browsers (maybe to others as well, but I don't know). So here is a command to reset your IE browser, and honestly, it works really well; a technician from France Telecom (Orange) gave me this little command when I was in France (France Telecom is an internet provider). So here it goes... go to Start, Run... type 'cmd' and then the DOS window should open, then type 'netsh'... after that, 'netsh' should appear as a command... then type 'wins', and 'netsh winsock' should appear now, all that’s left to do is type 'r', hit enter... and restart! Well, I know it resets IE very well, but I can't provide details on why or how! If someone knowledgeable could enlighten me, that would be nice...

Well, I hope I’ve helped...

Ciao
