Philips SBC Headphones Batteries

I signed up for the site just to thank you for the tip; I bought rechargeable batteries thinking naively that all batteries were universal, but that's not the case.

I'm very happy to be able to recharge my batteries with my Philips headset, thanks again.

As for me, faced with this problem I had tried several brands of rechargeable batteries, of the same type and ampere-hour rating or a bit stronger, and they always seemed too weak even though the charge had been verified with a voltmeter.
I blamed the quality of those batteries, not seeing which characteristic of the current from the batteries could explain the difference with the original Phillips ones.

Good grief... but of course, those contacts on the side near the negative terminal are the explanation!

Moreover, it's really simple, a cutter is enough to expose the area in question on each battery. And I can confirm, it works, it's magic.

All I can tell you is that under the "negative" spring, there is a kind of small hook that, when pressed, goes into its housing and returns to its place when we release it.

I also have a SHC 5100, but the two tabs under the springs are also clearly present on this model; moreover, inside the compartment, it clearly states (but in very small print) "use only Philips SHORTENED SLEEVE rechargeable batteries."
So, the story about shortening the plastic sleeve by a few millimeters to establish contact must also apply to this model.

I've just put it on charge, I will confirm if it's OK for the 5100 as well.

Philips and marketing

Their batteries are absolutely NOTHING special; just looking at the specifications of these batteries or measuring them shows that they are completely standard.
Moreover, all the people who have circumvented this shameful restriction have had no issues, and some here have been using modified batteries for several years. As for the lifetime warranty, it's strange that this only comes to light now, BUT Philips is SELLING them at a scandalous price.

I think that this time, Philips would do better to keep quiet rather than digging into nebulous excuses that wouldn’t hold up for two minutes in front of a competent technician.
