Accents with HP QWERTY keyboard

To type accents with a QWERTY keyboard, you need to use the key combination "Alt+X" where X represents the corresponding ASCII code:

é:130; â:131; ù:151; ô:147; ï:139; ç:135; è:138; à:133; û:150; ö:148; î:140; Ç:128; ë:137.

To put accents on portable computers, simply use the Fn key. You hold down the Alt and Fn keys and type the corresponding number but on the numeric keypad (the numbers 0 to 9 are represented by the characters M, J, K, L, U, I, O, 7, 8, 9). For example, for "é", you will hold Alt and FN and then type JLM on an American keyboard.

The easiest way is to adopt the configuration of the Quebec or Canadian-French keyboard (the two are distinct): through the Control Panel, Regional and Linguistic Options (the Windows disk is sometimes required). The accents then do not come from codes but are direct keys. It looks like this. I have a keyboard that looks a bit like this one but I have no trouble using the accents: you just need to know where they are (you get used to it in a few hours). Ciao!

On laptops that do not have a numeric keypad, you need to use the keys located on the front edge of the letter keys (m,j,k,l,u,i,o,7,8,9 which correspond to the numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9).
Then, you must simultaneously hold down the ''Fn'' and ''Alt'' keys and type the numeric code of the desired accented letter.

I FOUND IT, YOU HAVE TO PRESS ALT ON THE LEFT + SHIFT.

Oh, the great combinations of keys Alt + accent + letter, or other shortcuts.
Personally, I've developed the tool keyxpat (http://keyxpat.com). With it, on any keyboard, there's no need to move your hands. An "é" or an "ê" is on the E and a "ç" is on the C. Can it be simpler?
