Hello, sometimes I end up with a dotted rectangle around a desktop icon, whether it's for the recycle bin or a shortcut icon. I've tried several things, but nothing worked. I have to admit that I'm not exactly a computer whiz. If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance: Dom

It's normal, it just means that this icon has been selected. For example: click on an icon (with the left mouse button) and click on the desktop (the wallpaper).
Dotted lines appear around the icon.

Thank you Thierry, that's nice. So if I understood you correctly, to remove the dotted lines, you just need to click on the icon with the left mouse button and then on the background with the right mouse button.

Thanks again, Dom.

Re-hello, I still can't remove the dotted lines around the .dom icons.

You misunderstood me: I told you that if the dotted lines appear, it's normal, and I explained how to make them appear (selecting an icon, then the desktop).

The dotted lines, like the selection or the insertion point (|), are indicators. There’s no need to remove them.

Thank you, I thought it was a mistake to leave the dashes, since I'm just starting with computers I figured I was being careful. Besides, I'm the kind of person who likes everything to be perfectly aligned, all the same, so those dashes bothered me a bit. I know it’s silly, but you can’t change who you are. Well, I've bothered you enough, thanks again: Dom.
