Hello,
I am an intern at a logistics company and my mission is to re-implant the general store in order to optimize the stocks!! I wanted to know if there is software that allows you to create a plan for this warehouse and to include all storage supports (pallet racks, storage cabinets, etc...)
It would be nice if someone among you could provide a solution.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello to you,

There are surely specialized software, but not knowing your field very well, I would suggest two programs that seem relevant for your task. These two programs are Microsoft Visio and Mega.

Visio allows you to create a multitude of diagrams. Mega does as well. I have notably created UML architecture diagrams using the latter.
But if you can't find anything, I think the best option is to use Visio because, on the one hand, it is easier to find, and on the other hand, you can very easily export it to common formats (images, pdf, etc.). You can also add images to make your plan more understandable.

I thank you for your response!
Can I add details such as pallet racks or locations intended for merchandise with appropriate support in any of these software?
Best regards

Mega is mainly software for modeling processes or IT hardware according to my memories. But in Visio, you can import an image of a pallet rack or something else to complement your diagram. During my internship in electronics, the automation engineer created the network architecture using Visio by importing images of controllers, electrical motors, etc., so it should be possible in your case.

Okay, thanks! I took a look, but when I saw the price, it threw me off! Wouldn't there be cheaper software or even free ones? Because I don't think the company would finance software at that price for a single use!

This article is not very recent, but it may interest visitors. There are specialized software solutions for warehouse management and inventory management. These software solutions allow for precise mapping for organization. The features are extensive.

The WMS myScore is one of these tools: https://smart-industry-myscore.fr/solutions-industrielles/logiciel-wms-warehouse-management-system-myscore/

In this case, take a look over here:

Even if Visio is much more aesthetically pleasing than Dia for example :/

The pallet racks being modular both in height and depth as well as in intervals, we do not see much need to make a plan.
A simple calculation: Number of racks in length = Building length - (number of aisles x aisle width) / cell length (3m; 4m or 6m).
And similarly in width, with the depth of the racks.

Afterwards, it obviously depends on what is stored (lead or feather?).
