Opposition to Orange withdrawals URGENT!!!!

Hello,

I am a customer with Orange, on a blocked plan of €24 plus €3 for options. I would like to switch operator and go to Bouygues (more attractive prices). But the problem is that my commitment ends on February 12, 2010! So I cannot terminate my contract before that date...

I just don’t want to wait until then at all! So is it possible to block OrangeDirect debit withdrawals at the bank until I can terminate? I know there will be bank charges, but on Orange's side, will they still bill me for the amounts due?

    Hello,

    If you have a one-year commitment, whether you resign now or wait until February 2010, you will still owe them the same amount, namely €27/month.

    Blocking (opposition) will land you in trouble if you haven’t already informed Orange that you want to cancel your subscription. You need to notify them properly before doing anything.

    By doing that you expose yourself to problems, and serious ones in particular, such as being listed with Prevanet (fichage préventel) and not being able to take a subscription with any operator again. Pay the remaining months and there you go, in any case with what you will save at Bouygues Telecom that somewhere will pay for the remaining months you have paid.

    Thank you for your very quick responses!!

    It really annoys me to pay 2 subscriptions at the same time.... so I think I will wait until the end of my commitment. How should I proceed to leave Orange at the end of my contract? I suppose I need to write a letter saying I am terminating my subscription as of February 12, 2010? Because I don’t want to pay beyond February 2010, I don’t want to waste time or money!!

    It all depends on whether you want to keep your number or not.
    If you want to keep your number, you do a porting.
    If you don’t want to keep your number, you send a registered letter and that's it.

    I may have found another solution... The Chatel Law! which allows subscribers to terminate their contract before the end of the commitment by paying only 1/4 of the due amounts... Have you heard of it?

    Yes, that's true; I thought about it, but your contract dates from February 2008 if I'm not mistaken. If that's the case, you don't fall at all within the scope of this law. Indeed, to fall within the scope of this law, your contract or renewal would have had to be signed on June 1, 2008 or after, but that's not the case, so there you go.
