Question

Hello,  I can't connect to a website; it says "502 Bad Gateway".  What does that mean?  Thanks :D ^^ -- At 16 years old, it's the good life ^^ :D

There is a problem with the proxy. In fact, the server that acts as an intermediary between your machine and another server has received a response from the latter indicating its inability to fulfill the request. There is a routing error, independent of your control. You can try again later.

Who among you is with Free?

Since my registration and migration from my Alice account to the Free one, I decided to keep my Alice email address (a service graciously offered by Free).

Today, after noticing that I could no longer log into my Alice mail account, I called customer service, and they told me that everything should get back to normal after fixing the routing (Proxy, I understand nothing about all this). Since then, I have been waiting for the repair of this issue, but I have some doubts... And I am not the only one who is facing this kind of problem.

The only proof I have to convince you is this error message that appears every time I try to log into my email.

The response is not very clear and, moreover, seems incomplete to me. On Wiki, there is an answer like "Bad response sent to an intermediate server by another server." In short, if I understand correctly, it's a connectivity issue between the PC (or server) and the server you want to access, but there’s no further explanation on the reason or in which direction it seems to be bugging. 503 indicates a server that is not responding and 504 indicates a response time that is too long. Sometimes, this problem can be circumvented by using a proxy, if possible free and outside of France. Knowing that, on my side, I am with Orange and they have decided to pool their lines with their various competitors, except for Free who seems still reluctant at the beginning of the year, in order to escape the monopoly of France Telecom and its inadequate and expensive technical support, it results since the end of May 2014, in an incredible mess as well as a significant loss of speed and connectivity depending on the regions and the destinations of the requests (international). France Telecom was already lagging behind in terms of equipment, but now it’s total chaos as the demand for bandwidth keeps increasing month by month (TV, cinema, music, heavier HTML pages, etc.). We are still far from the 2Mb/s that the 2012 bill seemed to envisage. Yet 2Mb/s is barely sufficient today knowing that HD TV already requires 800Mb/s and 350ko/s in low speed on free platforms. Currently in Aude, it's been a mess for over a month. This may explain that ... Also, in the rest of the country! We are really starting to look ridiculous compared to our neighbors. It is almost better to be in the DOM-TOM to have the systematic advantage of fiber which is significantly better in bandwidth and well monitored in its operation. It's really pathetic!
