Hello,
I bought an Acer Aspire 5536G with Windows Vista two months ago.
I have all the useful programs for the proper functioning of this PC, but I also have "My Winlocker."
Every time I start my PC, a small window appears reminding me that I need to install this program.
What is this program?
It asks me to create a "master password" and a "Yo Safe."
Can anyone help me? I don't want to install unnecessary programs that could slow down my PC.
Thank you.

Hello,
I also recently bought an Acer, an Aspire 7735 running Vista, and this program opened every time I booted the PC.
After looking into it, I understood that it's actually software that allows you to store files in a "hidden" way... When you open it, you need to set up a master password and the memory capacity you want to dedicate to this application.
So, if you have "personal" files or files that need protection, you just need to open winlocker, enter your password, drag (or copy/paste) your files into the hard drive labeled "Yo-Safe," and then close the software.
I just hope this software is permanent and not a trial version that requires payment later.
Have a good evening.

The My WinLocker program is a good program. Once you have created the "Yo Safe", all your files are backed up; before accessing them, a password is required and all the content is also encrypted. Even if you lend your PC to someone, they cannot access your folders contained in "Yo Safe" (even if someone removed the hard drive, your folders cannot be read). But if you forget the password, there is no way to recover your files... forever - be sure to create a password that you will NEVER forget.
Aside from that, MyWinlocker is a good program. The version that comes with Acer is complete, but there are a few advertisements that pop up when the program is open.
Thank you (sorry for the French, I speak English)

I used this program because it was on my ACER...
I used it to encrypt text documents on which I had written codes and passwords.
After a few weeks, the files became unusable:
I can no longer open them, delete them, or move them.
I even tried a complete reinstallation, but nothing works.
THIS PROGRAM IS A LOAD OF CRAP.
I am furious!
A piece of advice, if you're offered to install it: STAY AWAY.

Hello, I have a friend who has "lost" all his personal documents on a netbook.
After searching, I found them but they are "hidden" and no longer accessible. I think he might have accidentally used WinLocker.
Can I uninstall WinLocker and thus recover the files in their original location??
Thank you for your help.

I have been using this program for more than a year, and I have NEVER had any problems.
Of course, I haven't forgotten my passwords, and I only put data and not programs in the secure partition.
I have duplicated this data on USB sticks, and I have always been able to recover it.
I am not promoting this program, but it is free and works perfectly on my PC, running Windows Seven 64-bit.

You will see that I have been using this program since 2009 and I have never had any problems. In fact, all my valuable files are kept only in Winlocker, but I know that if I ever forget the password, they are lost forever. Fanfoue11's advice is correct: always back up data on portable drives (USB, etc.).
I'm sorry, but my French is limited. You can install My Winlocker because it's a program that protects your PC. After installation, you can put all your folders in My Winlocker and they become "invisible" to people who don't have the password you created at the time of installation. The program uses encryption, so even if someone manages to access your PC, they won't be able to read your folders without the password. I had the same doubts when I bought my Acer PC, but I found out that it's really good software. I hope I was able to assist you.

Hello
I would like to know how to erase my win locker. Can someone help me?
I'm looking for its location, its properties, and I can't find it in the programs and features, and I don't want to keep it.
If anyone has the answer, please explain it to me.

Good evening everyone,
I see that the reviews on this software are quite mixed... :S As for me, I find it really useful... Anyway, I would like to know if anyone knows how to lock a folder that contains multiple files? I managed to do it once but I really don't remember how I did it... every time I want to lock a folder it encrypts all the files inside the folder instead of just encrypting the folder. (For example: It's super annoying to decrypt all the files, imagining there are 100 of them, when you just want to view one in particular...).
I know it's possible but I really don't remember how to do it...
Thank you for your responses!

This one is free and makes an entire directory invisible/visible all at once, and I have been using it without any problems for several years:

I was just wondering about the function of WinLocker, thank you very much, I think it will be very useful to me :)
Oh, you're welcome! ;) Really, it's a great program! But you have to be careful to always make a copy of your data. Because if the software crashes (with Windows, you have to be ready for anything...), it is "impossible" to recover your data: They are either simply encrypted by a password (which you must NEVER forget, because there is no option to retrieve your password anywhere), or protected by the "Yo-Safe," which is a kind of "safe" within the computer that can hold a maximum of 4 GB that hides all the important information and is impossible for other users to locate (the Yo-Safe leaves no trace on the computer, it must be activated via the "mywinlocker" software which asks for the location of this folder (it is listed on C:/ by default), the password, and the size of your Yo-Safe (which is, I believe, between a minimum of 55 MB to a maximum of 4 GB).
There you go, I hope that could help you! :)
And remember to always make a copy of your data, because the downside of this software is that when it's lost, it's lost...

I have been using it for fifteen months, and no financial contribution has been requested from me...
what does "yo-safe" exactly mean?
He talks at one point about sharing files with friends?
Thank you
