You should not post multiple times in different places; to find this post, you can add it to your favorites or bookmarks.
To reveal your hidden partition, go to Start, Run, and copy/paste the text in bold below and click OK:
"C:\Acer\Empowering Technology\eRecovery\MBRwrWin.exe" mount hd0:1 R:
Go back to My Computer, next to your partitions, you should have a new R drive, open it.
The password is in the file aimdrs.dat. To see it, you may need to show hidden folders: https://www.micro-astuce.com/Forum/afficher-les-fichiers-caches-t1607.html
It is better to delete this password and then enter 000000 (six zeros) when opening eRecovery.
If you keep it anyway, you need to convert it to QWERTY; some letters may change:

Hello, I'm looking for my empowering technology password. I have done all the steps to get the R partition as well as the hidden files.
So far, everything is fine except that I can't find any file named aimdrs.dat
Is it possible that it could have another name, and if so, what name?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Right-click on the desktop, New, Text Document, name it: AIMDRS.DAT then open it with Notepad, and copy/paste what is in bold below:
Close it, then right-click on it and Copy.
Go back to the hidden partition, right-click in an empty space and Paste.
Restart and try eRecovery again.

If you still have the same password but you still can't see the AIMDRS.dat file in the hidden partition, you can still force it to open. To do this:
go to start/run, type cmd and press enter
this will open the command prompt, type in: R:/AIMDRS.DAT and press enter, it will force open the file; look where to change the password and save it. There you go!

We are going to start everything from scratch.
Delete the file you created, in the hidden partition and on the desktop if you still have it.
*Open Notepad and copy/paste what is in bold below.
*Click on File, Save As.
*In the window, put the following:
- At the top: Desktop
- Name: aimdrs.dat
- Type: Text file
- Encoding: ANSI
*Click on Save.
*Right-click on this new file, Properties,
-General tab, check Hidden
- Security tab, select each name and verify that all permissions are checked (not for special)
*Open the hidden partition in a minimized window, hold down the left click on the file and drag it to an empty spot in the window. You should see it, close everything.
*Go back to Folder Options, View, click on Default settings, Apply and OK.
*Restart, go to the Start menu, All Programs, click on Acer, right-click on eRecovery management, open as administrator and try again with the six zeros, using the numeric keypad.
See you!

For the references, go to Start, right-click on Computer, Properties, System and Model.
I think for now, you need to configure it; it doesn't exist yet, that's why it's not working.
It's not the same version as mine, but I've seen the process before; do you have an ACER toolbar on your desktop?
Or even a key with a green E on your keyboard?

Yes, I have a toolbar on the desktop... as for the model, I'm sorry, I can't find it.
What do you mean by "computer"?
When I bought the PC... it was a display model and it didn't ask me to set a password until I formatted it this week.
Since it has been formatted, it asks me for that... and it annoys me because I found the technique incredibly simple for a beginner like me in computing.

You click on START, in the menu, there is COMPUTER.
Otherwise, also check on your PC if you have an ACER label, for example: ASPIRE.......? (4 digits and maybe 1 or 2 letters as well) Do not write anything else to me, if you see other numbers, do not include them in this message, they are reserved for your PC and do not need to be visible to everyone.
You say "Since it was formatted," have you already reinstalled it? Before, you must have had a password too, right?
Have you configured a program on this toolbar with a password?

In fact, I never had a password; I think the seller had configured it. The problem is he didn't note it anywhere!
The PC must be an E 650.
For formatting, empowering technology has a function to format the C drive. I used this function because I didn't trust myself when creating the backup disk.
Empowering technology offered to restore the PC to its factory settings.
And since the PC started to malfunction, I did it. Everything has been perfect since except for that famous password. And I'd like to have it for the future, to format it without waiting, uh... 4 years!!!
No programs configured in this toolbar.
I do have a CD for empowering technology with the PC, but when I insert it into the drive, there's nothing on it!!! And, of course, no password noted on the CD!

Go back to the hidden partition and delete the file you added and restart.
Right-click on this ACER toolbar, you should have Password SetUp, this is where you configure a password, then this is the one you will enter in eRecovery (or in the other programs in this toolbar). Use six zeros, it's easier to remember.
As for your DVD, it's normal that there's nothing on it; it's up to you to burn it. Finally, I think, otherwise, you can take others and burn them, that way you'll be fine.
In the Start menu, All Programs, you should have ACER System, click on it and you should also have a Users guide file where everything is explained.

Hello everyone, I had the same problem with my empowering password loss, which I found after following all the instructions, but now empowering does not accept it and tells me that the code is incorrect. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
Good evening micka0062,
With eRecovery, the keyboard is in QWERTY, some letters in your password may change, check the correspondence at this link: https://www.informatruc.com
See you!

Bsr lacharpente thanks for your help I've already done this manipulation but since there are only numbers in the password with a letter g I've tried everything but nothing works I'm going to try to do it with toutlinux to remove the password hoping it's not too complicated I'm a novice in computing thanks for your help
Re Lacharpente, I used toutoulinux, apparently it works. It didn't ask me for a password. I'm reinstalling it; I'll let you know later if it worked. Thanks for everything, looking forward to it (not too often though, lol) talk to you later.

Maybe it's still a bit too soon.
In any case, I was able to recover my password (which I had tried??)
I now hope to restore my system that crashed because of "nvlddmkm"
I'll come back to say if it worked.
Kisses
