Hello,
After a good "cleaning" oops!! actually with Quad registry cleaner, my files disappeared from "my documents" Panic I created a restore point and I see them again
But, they now have a small arrow in the bottom left corner of the icon that didn't exist before
When I try to open a file, I get "missing shortcut" and I'm< asked to do a manual search, but the path is invalid??
Yet I can see these folders and they are not empty
Has anyone else had the same problem? Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my message

In any case, I can tell you that when registry cleaners only cause problems... system restore does not bring back your files and documents (only system files), so it's normal that it creates a shortcut for you, because they already existed but the restore cannot bring them back to their original state.
Hello
Can't you have them anywhere else but on this icon? For example in the start menu? Normally, you get that error message when you have an icon left but the folder has been deleted.
And just because you have the icon doesn’t mean you necessarily have something inside. Try right-clicking your mouse and selecting explore; if you have nothing, it means it’s been deleted.
That’s the problem with cleaning software like that, didn’t they ask you to make a backup beforehand?

Is it a few kilos? If it's 1 or 2 KB, it doesn't mean there's anything inside; it's the size of the shortcut. It's really strange that you only got the shortcuts and not the files that go with them. I already asked you, but are you sure you can't recover them elsewhere?
Quad registry cleaner, it's the thing that does a (free of course) analysis and tells you that you have 1555 problems to solve and that you need to pay 14 dollars? They're thieves; they know how to catch people.

Don't worry, you don't need to be called naive to be fooled (though in this case... :) you're not the first and you won't be the last...
Well, someone needs to help, who has a solution?

Go back to Quad registry cleaner and check if a backup has been saved.
For me, it's your only chance to recover your files.

To err is human, to persist (in error) is diabolical.
