The problem of "Incorrect XML data" comes from an error in the Outlook navigation pane.
You can reset the pane with the command: "outlook /resetnavpane"

This command erases all personalization done in the pane.

Really great!!! same problem under Windows 7 - 64 bit - after crash...
just typed in Run: Outlook.exe /resetnavpane and like magic it works again!!

All your Outlook data is stored in one or more PST files. You can search your hard drive.

That said, it might be your PST that is corrupted. In that case, you can try scanning your PST with the tool located in your Program Files folder named SCANPST.

Also try starting Outlook in Safe Mode.

If none of this works, it might be your profile that is corrupted. You just need to create a new one.

To create a profile: Control Panel, Mail => Show profiles => New profile

You re-enter the server names, and you will then be able to recover your PST.

the solution is very simple:

1) create a new user on your computer named "user1"
2) log out and log in to the "user1" session, then start Outlook without configuring the mailbox
3) log out of the "user1" session, then log back into your own session.
4) copy the file "C:\Documents and Settings\user1\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.xml" to "C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook"
Confirm yes to overwrite the existing file and launch Outlook again in your session and Tadaa...

1: cmd
2: navigate to the Outlook installation folder using the command cd
e.g.: cd c:/program files/microsoft office/office15
3: type the following command without the quotes ''outlook.exe /profiles''
4: select your profile in the dialog that appears and then check the default profile
5: VOILA

It worked wonderfully (command line).
Then I imported the initial PST file that I had repaired with the two utilities indicated.
And I found my complete Outlook again.

Under XP, with Outlook 2007
start > run > outlook.exe /resetnavpane
Then File > Import > Other program or file > *.pst

I recovered my info!!

Best answer: I had the same problem with Outlook 2007 and Vista. I found the following solution on a forum and it works since :) Everything deleted in the folder: C:\Users\Nom_utilisateur\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

I have Windows Vista and in C:/ Program/ MicrosoftOffice / Office 12, I can’t find outlook.exe (there is only: outlook.exe.manifest) !!!!

When I type in Run outlook.exe /resetnavpane, it tells me that Outlook cannot open because MSMAPI is corrupted

On the same machine, I installed Office 2003, and when I launch Outlook, it only indicates that MSMAPI is corrupted and I don’t even find it in Office 11 (1036) !!!
