Hello,
A week ago, I made the great purchase of a superb new HP Deskjet F4210 all-in-one printer.
Great idea that I've been regretting for a week as I've been trying in vain to get it to work.
Let me explain:
trials conducted on a PC with XP Pro SP3 / Firefox / MacAfee antivirus and since it didn't work, on
a laptop with XP Home SP3 / Firefox / ANTIVIR antivirus.
By strictly following the installation guide, I faithfully adhered to the instructions on the installation CD, connecting the device via USB at the appropriate moment: both computers recognized the device just fine.
But when it came time to perform a test print, as possible at the end of the installation, nothing happened; it miserably failed with an error message and everything... well, actually nothing, no printing.
I made several attempts using the CD or equivalent software found on the HP support site, doing a complete or minimal installation: same result. I changed the USB cable: same again. Between installation attempts, I uninstalled completely every time and thoroughly cleaned it up using CCleaner (no trace of HP anywhere) on both computers where I tried the experience.
Driver issue? (even though I always found it on HP's site)?
Given the mess that HP installation represents, should I throw away my new printer?
H E L P !!! before I do something stupid!

I also tried to print a text from OpenOffice, an image contained in the computer... everything is fine except when I try to print, I get an error message...
Yes, of course there is that solution...
But before I raise a ruckus at the store and even with HP (who will surely find a way to prove that it's my fault), maybe there's another way... which will have the huge advantage of being quick (I doubt the other solutions....)!
Is there a "generic" driver that can make my thing work?

yes but I said that because you're talking about doing something you regret so!!!
otherwise try to connect the printer and do an online detection here

and choose the driver it suggests for you

I bought the same printer, I have the same setup and the same problem.
The only difference is that mine works but on a friend's computer
Thanks for sharing any info if you have the solution
I appreciate it

I managed to install (but with such patience!) my HP F4210 on my PC equipped with XP SP3 as well as on my wife's laptop equipped with VISTA.
While she benefits from a French interface, as there was a language choice, I am stuck with an interface in very incomprehensible English. However, I manage in English, but to resolve the rather frequent bugs, I can't make heads or tails of it.
I tried reinstalling the equipment thinking I had not been careful enough at the time of language selection, but I found nothing.
I started over, making sure to thoroughly clean any trace of the previous installation, including in the registry. (of course, the antivirus was disabled)
Nothing works! The interface, which is complicated and full of errors, is still in English.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
