Different margins for even and odd pages Solved

Question

Hello,
I want to find a simple solution to create different margins between even and odd pages of a document of about a hundred pages. If I do it manually, I can't seem to dissociate paragraphs that continue onto the next page. Is it possible to leave the headers and footers untouched, as they have already gone through quite complicated adjustments? When I try with "section breaks", I don't get anything, except the addition of unwanted pages.

Hello again,

If you just want to get different margins depending on whether the page is odd or even, you simply need to choose the "Facing Pages" option in the "View multiple pages" dropdown menu in the Page Setup dialog, Margins tab (File menu, Page Setup).

When this option is chosen, you will see that your margins will no longer be called left or right, but Inside and Outside.
I believe, if I understood your question correctly, that this will solve your problem.

Thank you very much for the response. I tried, first without selecting (highlighting) the entire document, then by selecting it. Nothing happens. I checked that the action applies to the entire document....

I will therefore try to do it page by page. What surprises me is that the pages do not appear "facing each other" on the screen. What is the purpose of this function then? Will the paragraphs be able to "detach" from one page to another if I slightly change the margin? So far, that’s what hasn’t been working.

And above all, we don't change the margins page by page... To do that, there would need to be a section break on each page, and then there would be no more consecutive pages.

I'm a bit in the same situation as textuelle but I might consider tweaking the footers.
I've followed your recommendations (in Word 2003) but it didn't have the desired effect...

I want to set different margins or different footers on even and odd pages.

Indeed, when I choose "outside numbering," the numbering is placed:
- above the footers
- at the same level as the footnotes, making it unreadable

So I thought about placing it in the footer but the "outside" option isn't available to me

I'm a bit lost, so if you could help me...

Is it only about the margins or also about having different headers and footers???

If you don't want the same footer, you need to start by selecting the option "different odd and even" in the File menu, Page Setup, Layout option.
Then, when you go into the header or footer, you'll see that the odd and even ones will be completely independent (it's clearly stated if you're on the even or odd header). You can then put whatever you want in each of them.

If it's simply about getting outside and inside numbering, you don’t need all that; menu Insert, Page Numbers, Alignment => Outside (or inside).

There is no reason for the number to appear in the footnotes. Check your margins and the placement of your footers...

This feature is very handy... You should take advantage of it because it has been removed in later versions!! :(

Hello, I am using Word 2013 on Windows 8.1,

I created a document; on the first page, I put the title and two images. To fit them in, I changed the margin sizes. Then I wrote my text on the second page, but on this page, I would like the default margins back!
