Hello,
I have a simple problem: every time I install software on my Mac, I put the installation folder (.dmg) in my applications folder, but whenever I open the application to use it, a disk is added to my desktop that I can't eject as long as the application is running.
As a result, by the end of the day, my desktop is cluttered with lots of extra disks. I don't understand why my friends who also have Macs don't have these disks...
Did I install my applications incorrectly?
Thank you in advance for your help

Good evening,
Yes, you have incorrectly installed these applications ;-)), but it happens at the beginning ;-)
When you double-click on a .dmg file, it mounts on the desktop like a CD, as it is a disk image. You take the application that is in this "fake CD" and move it to your Applications folder. Then you "eject" the disk image like a CD, and you throw the .dmg file in the trash and empty it.
If there is an installation "package" in this disk image, the .pkg file, you double-click on this .pkg file and when the installation is finished, similarly, you eject the "fake CD", and you throw the .dmg file in the trash.
After that, your applications are ready to be launched from your Applications folder.
