Good evening, so I won't linger, I'll explain right away. I bought a Pentax Optio E60 camera last week, and I am just a beginner, but I can still notice a problem. For a while now, when I press On/Off, the light first turns orange then blinks several times red, and today it completely froze while taking a picture, with the lens extended and stuck.
So, if anyone has a suggestion, I would be all "Ears" ^^ I really don't want to go back to the store lol here...
Thank you all and good evening, hoping to get a response.
Best regards, Link ^^

Good evening,
So, if anyone has a suggestion, I would be all "ears" ^^ I'm really too lazy to go back to the store lol so there you go...
It's really the only thing to do, especially since this camera should be under warranty; if it's not guaranteed after a week, it must have fallen off a truck, and in that case, it's no wonder it doesn't work well: these things don't like to fall.... :-D
No, joking aside: it's really the only thing to do.
Luke.

I am experiencing the same thing, what should I do? It would be nice if you could respond please. I only received it yesterday since it's Christmas.
Thank you for finding a solution to this problem.

Hello everyone... I received a Pentax E60 camera for Christmas and I encountered the same difficulties as you, namely that when I turned on the device, its light turned red and flashed several times in an orange color. After 2 days of searching, I managed to solve the problem...
Actually, you just need to take new batteries (I think the ones supplied with the device are crap^^). For me, I used "stamina plus" batteries from SONY.
When I put them in for the first time, the device worked instantly. I then put the old ones back to check and make sure the problem really was with the batteries, and the device didn't turn on.
So there you go, despite a confusing explanation, I hope this advice can help you... for me, I finally have a Pentax E60 that works wonderfully!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I also just bought the Optio E60 (since 1 day) and it absolutely doesn't work anymore. What a hassle!!!!!!!!!!!
I really hope it's a battery issue. If that's the case, the manufacturer could make an effort in terms of product quality. It's really frustrating to be dealing with a brand new device that doesn't work on a Sunday morning!

Pentax E60 :
It has a good appetite for batteries. After only ten photos at 3Mp, the E60 refused to extend the lens while the "battery" symbol was still 2/3 full.
(The little red LED on the back blinks - nothing more). The measured voltage of each alkaline cell was only down from 1.5 to 1.47 volts!
This device, however, accepts rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. Although their nominal voltage is lower (1.2 volts), the Optio E60 seems to prefer them. It's almost as if the circuit can determine what type of battery (NiMH/alkaline) the user has inserted. We know that this type of accumulator lasts longer in digital cameras than the saline or alkaline type.
According to this forum, it seems to me that the E60 suffers from a battery management issue. If this can be confirmed by a sufficient number of visitors, there would be little sense in returning the device to the supplier -- unless Pentax declares that the problem has been resolved.

Same problem! Luckily, I quickly came to check your responses! I directly replaced the provided batteries with some Duracell ones I had in reserve, and voilà, it worked like magic :) I hope it doesn't happen again.
Hello,
I had the same problem. I put in DURACELL batteries and the LED flashes red then nothing. I sent it for repair, and two days later, I received a call informing me that a standard replacement had been done and I could come pick up the new device (an Optio E60).
I took possession of the new device, inserted the batteries, and encountered the same problem. I tried with regular batteries and the device worked. I tested with other rechargeable batteries (different brands, different power levels) and the problem persists (red LED and then nothing).
I sent an email to PENTAX to get their opinion.
If you have any information, I'm all ears.
Thank you.

Hello, I have a problem with my camera! I have a Pentax Optio M60 and as soon as I turn it on, the screen is completely black and it stays that way even when I take photos!!
Help me!!!
Help me!!!
I have the same problem with my E35 and I've noticed it with the batteries too, having received my device for my birthday a year and a half ago. Right now, it's worse; it keeps asking me to change the date, which I do, I click OK, an error message appears and then nothing, it shuts down. As soon as I turn it on, it stays lit in green as if it were connected to the computer, so it's impossible to turn it off. The only way is to remove the batteries, but I can't use it anymore. It's unfortunate that a digital device doesn't last longer than that :-(
Hello,
having a Pentax Optio 50, I studied the problem, even considering making my own charger. The problem diminishes a bit but comes back, it's due to the memory in certain types of batteries.
I'm still pondering the issue... but the older Pentax models handled this function very well, but after 2000, it’s really not worth it.

Hello, I have an E60 option with the same problem, but when I change the batteries (after 5 attempts and struggling to find different ones), the optics do not close.. and since it's still under warranty, I'm going to disassemble it to take a look. I'll keep you updated!
Well, you’re lucky to have bought a camera with a lifetime warranty, ... once it’s dead, it’s dead!!
I offer you my heartfelt condolences and make sure to check the forums for information before making a purchase, not after ;)

Hello. I also had the same problem, but unfortunately, the issues multiplied over time. If you have just purchased a PENTAX Optio E60, be sure to check the condition of your camera based on the posts above. If you are looking to acquire a camera, definitely do not buy an Optio E60, because after browsing numerous forums, I realized that many owners of this type of device have complained about similar problems.
Here are the problems I encountered myself:
"Just a few days after purchasing my camera, while taking some pictures, I noticed a faint streak whose color varied according to the dominant color of the photograph. But, too happy to use my new device and overwhelmed by the joy of photographing everything I liked, I decided (Oh, foolish decision) to ignore it. However, over the weeks, I noticed that the lens sometimes struggled to retract when I turned off the camera (a fact that is not very important in itself, but should have raised a red flag).
Finally, after a few months of use, a more serious problem occurred: the small light on the camera, when I turned it on, was blinking with a reddish-orange light. The camera would then turn on normally, and when I tried to take a picture, the screen would go black and a red banner would appear, adorned with this message: "Lens Error: 0x04110000"."
I can no longer take any photos now.
Thank you,
Margot
