My PENTAX Optio E30 won't turn on anymore.

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my PENTAX OPTIO E30 digital camera!!!

I don't know what happened; it didn't fall and didn't suffer any shock, and yet it won't turn on... WHY???

I was looking at my photos on my 8GB Sandisk SD card and everything was fine. I turned it off as usual, and maybe 20 minutes later, I picked it up to take pictures and... well, nothing.
IMPOSSIBLE to turn it back on; I've tried several times and still nothing. I removed the batteries and waited a good hour, and still nothing when I tried to turn it back on. I tried another 1GB Sandisk SD card to see if that was the issue, and still nothing; it still won't turn on!!

So if anyone could help me find a solution to this problem, that would be super cool!! Maybe a reset is possible because I think it might be stuck or something like that.

Moreover, the batteries are new; I even took batteries from another digital camera to be sure, and still nothing; it still won't turn on!!

Thanks in advance, and I hope someone can help me... :-(

@ soon...

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem with my Pentax DSLR. On top of that, I can no longer access the files on the memory card. I dropped the device off at the repair service today; verdict around 09/10.
Have you heard anything new on your side?

Hi,

Well, listen, still nothing!!

My device still won't turn on and I don't know why. I took it to an individual repairman because I can't find the receipt...

He told me that the repairs would cost more than buying a new one, so I have no choice but to buy a new one!! As soon as you have a reply from yours, let me know the verdict; you never know if I can repair it, that would be cool!!

Thanks and see you soon...

Ok, I'll keep you posted. But didn't your repairman do any diagnosis?

Hi,

No, I couldn't get a diagnosis because I don't have the warranty papers for my camera, so I'm stuck. I went to get a quote to have it repaired, and they told me it would cost me less to buy a new one than to have it repaired, so for now my camera is at home in a drawer waiting!!

I hope there will be a solution for you and maybe it can help me too!!

See you soon...

Hello,

I picked up my camera today. Everything was taken care of under warranty.
Work done:
- replacement of the electronic circuit,
- rewiring
- computer programming
- cleaning
- restoration of AAL.

I was also able to recover the photos on the memory card (phew!)
That's it. I'm not sure this information will be of much help to you. There's also no cost estimate. But it's true that given the price of compact cameras and the cost of this type of repair, you might be better off buying a new one. Sad consumer society!

Good luck.
