Hello everyone, I have an HP w2216v monitor and when I view my photos taken with my Nikon D40, the quality is very poor, even the videos are not of great quality. Thank you for solving my problem.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

It's done, for my part it's resolved.
It's a dark matter of profiles in the color management settings of the PC display settings. The profile that was set as default was the HP profile dedicated to the w2216. I selected the standard sRGB profile, set it as the default profile, checked to use "my settings..." and restarted the PC (not sleep mode, the actual shutdown of the PC).
Everything has been fine since!
P.S. : The problem appeared with the Windows photo preview but not with independent software (Photofiltre, etc.).

I'm arriving well after the discussion has ended, and I hope Joël receives my warmest thanks.
I switched to a 22-inch HP screen, and what a horror it was when I saw my photos oversaturated with blues turning to violet!
I tried all the screen settings without success, and I was sure I had made a bad choice by going for the cheaper option.
I'm super happy to see my photos looking like they used to again, thanks to you.
Just a bit yellow at 6500K, and it's true that at 9300K it's better, but for office work and white backgrounds, it feels a bit like neon lighting.
In any case, bravo for your insight and thank you a thousand times more.

I also have this monitor since December 5 and my card is properly set to the monitor's native resolution. By the way, this monitor was part of a bundle with an HP PC, so both the PC and the monitor were already configured to "match well."
In fact, the issue I noticed is an alteration of certain color gradients. For example, the brown leather jacket of a subject shows green reflections in the transition between well-lit areas and dark areas.
So I am also waiting for a solution because the photos are horrible.
Could this be due to the fact that the connection is VGA and not DVI?

thank you
after setting the sRGB as default, my problem returned
I installed these utilities, it was interesting especially for the clock and clock phase adjustment
these settings were no longer optimal-
Have you had the chance to test your monitor with another PC and your PC with another monitor?
Have you tried resetting the monitor to its original configuration?
I really hope a solution will be found because it's really a shame to have such a large screen and to reduce the resolution. There are really days when computing becomes a hassle!

You need to set the graphics card to the native resolution of your screen.
That is 1680 x 1050
Have a good Sunday.

Hello,
I also have the pack including the HP W2216 screen along with the corresponding tower, and my problem is that from time to time the fonts on my screen and the edges of the windows become blurred for no apparent reason; it really happens at random times. The only way to make it go away was to switch to a resolution of 1280*1024, which is not great for a 22-inch.
I've been searching for an answer for a month; I just changed what you suggested joV59, and I hope not to see that blur again!!
Should I choose sRGB or sRVB? I selected a setting that I found in browse where it says sRVB...-
It's the sRGB Color Space Profile.icm (sRGB IEC61966-2.1) that I chose.
In my previous message, I mistakenly wrote RGB; I must say that I had been browsing for hours in search of a solution and had read just about everything. At the moment of writing the adopted and effective solution on my end, I made a blunder. So it is indeed sRGB.
On my side, the symptoms were not the same as yours because I did not have any blurriness at the edges of the windows but only a problem with colors that were not always realistic despite all the monitor settings, mainly with the image previews in Windows Vista.
I hope this workaround will resolve your problem after all.

The HP support also provided me with two links to their screen calibration utilities. I didn't end up needing to use them, but I'm copying these links below just in case they might be useful!
Excerpt from HP's response:

Good evening JOV59
I also bought a HP set ( HP A6539.fr unit + HP w2216v monitor ) and all the photos I had saved, which looked perfect (the colors) on my old HP equipment with a 17-inch screen, now appear with terrible colors on the HP w2216v. I returned the equipment to Darty, and their response was: the screen resolution is much better than my old one, which is normal. I sent a letter to HP but got no response.
I just read that you switched to the standard sRGB profile.
Could you please explain to me (in beginner's language, first year) the step-by-step process to follow? I hope it will be possible.
Thank you, whatever happens.

Under Vista, while on the Windows Desktop:
- right-click on the desktop background (a context menu appears)
- click on "Personalize" (a window appears)
- click on "Display Settings" (opens a new window)
- click on the "Advanced Settings" button (another window opens)
- click on the "Color Management" tab then on the "Color Management" button (yet another window)
- In the ICC Profiles list select "sRGB IEC61966-21" then click on the "Set as Default Profile" button
- close this window and all the others.
- actually restart the PC (not just sleep).

I was able to test with another monitor, but it was a 19-inch screen that I replaced it with, and I had no problems. However, I wasn’t able to test my monitor with another tower.
Yes, I reset to factory settings.
I'm starting to think that my graphics card might be defective, or maybe there are some interferences, but I can't see with what. -
Hello, I have the HP Pavilion with the w2216v screen and I'm having exactly the same problem as you. Photos, as well as movies or videos, are awful! To date, I have contacted HP support who had me reinstall the graphics card and are now asking me to back everything up, format, and reinstall the PC! I think it's a screen problem because all the settings are fine. I haven't formatted yet, and I'm waiting for another solution to this annoying problem!

Hello or good evening, I have the same screen, I didn't have any quality issues, the graphics card may be a problem due to the driver......... anyway good luck.
