Hello,
I just read on your forum that some Sony cameras, among others, have problems due to their CCD sensor, resulting in a black screen.
Can someone let me know if the Kodak brand uses the same sensor? Because for a few days, I've also been experiencing a black screen issue.
Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.16

Hello,
I have this problem with my DX4330; do you have the same model?
See my message from June:

I have a big problem with my DX4330 (purchased on 14-12-2002)
No matter what shooting mode, there's no image on the LCD screen; when we power it on, the "ready" light never turns green (it keeps blinking red).
If we take a shot, the flash goes off, the image counter increments but in "review" the image is obviously black..
As if the CCD sensor was OFF or faulty?!..
Otherwise everything else works (zoom, menu, review..)
Has anyone experienced this problem? / Any solution before I open the box!..
Thanks

Hello,
Sorry, I don't have a solution and no money either to buy a new one.
So, I'm taking pictures by looking through the small window like on old cameras.
Less convenient but cheaper than a new one.

Hello, I'm sorry but my camera is a Kodak Easy Share C643.
But apparently, the problem is the same; I can still take pictures using the regular viewfinder and download them to the PC, but I can't see them on the camera's screen, it's very, very dark.
Still haven't found a solution.

Good evening! isa...
While browsing the "black screen" topics on this site, I just realized that many cameras were affected by this issue, even Canon!.. it seems to come from Sony CCD sensors.
I'm going to see what they think about it at Fnac.

I cannot display the photos either on the device or on the computer.

I can't see the photos taken on the device's screen since it's black, but when I plug the device into the computer, I can transfer the photos and view them without any problem.

Good evening again,
indeed, that's what I had read on the site as well.
Thank you for keeping me updated on your visit to Fnac.

Good evening,
Fnac was aware of the Sony list, but the (Kodak?) DX4330 is not on it.
For them, it's a (normal) malfunction, the repair costs 150 euros and even then, generally, Kodak doesn't repair; they exchange the equipment...
So I'm going to sell it for parts... if it works, otherwise it's trash!
The lifespan of a Kodak Easyshare DX4330 = 5 and a half years!...
It will be an opportunity to switch to Panasonic.

Hello,
Kodak's customer service confirms that a lifespan of 5 and a half to 6 years for a camera is "very good"! ..
I forgot to mention that the mechanics can fail, but rarely the electronics; I have an old PC that is over 10 years old and still works (without having failed).
Ciao.

Hello,
Having this black screen problem and with the holidays fast approaching, I thought "nothing to lose," so I disassembled it.
Once I reached the circuit boards and the screen, I unclipped the screen, blew on the circuit boards, wiped the screen, assembled everything back together and .....IT WORKS!
The screen is clear again, all functions are working well, finally, it's like it was before.
For how long????
