Hello, I just bought the new Tomb Raider and as a fan, I rushed to install it... the problem occurred at the end of the installation: a window appears with the game settings (enable or disable reflections, brightness, screen resolution, etc.) and no matter whether I set the configurations to "default" or change them myself, an error message appears saying "Unable to initialize Direct3D with the current settings" and therefore I can't proceed, start the game, etc....
Please, a little solution or explanation!!!

Well, I see this is causing quite a debate!!!!
I believe very few will be able to install it and play comfortably... you need a crazy computer to enjoy the superb graphics...
As for me, I installed it on another computer because mine isn't powerful enough (and yet it's good gear!!!!!)
In this case, we can blame the game developers who have taken perfectionism too far. It already required a good computer to play the others, but now it’s becoming ridiculous!!!!!!
I found a website that offers to test your computer's configuration online and tells us for each game specifically if our computer is powerful enough or not... unfortunately I can't find the link to give it to you, but if you want to search, I think it can help some to clarify their problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fortunately, I can now enjoy the game (with a few slowdowns, though!!!!)
If I had a Wii, I think I would have done the same as you, MadHatter!!!!!!!!!!!
For all those with a powerful enough computer, I wish you all good gaming!!! For the others, I am all the more sorry as I experienced the same disappointment when I bought it :-(

Hello,
there's no need to search too much, there's a read-me file with the game that tells you exactly which graphics cards are compatible and which ones are not. You have to follow the specifications carefully, otherwise it won't work. I have a friend who has a super powerful Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS and it doesn't work. Upon checking, it turns out it needed the Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS and not the GT (what nonsense, and it really annoys meeeeeeeeeeeeeee).

For my part, my video card is an Nvidia 8500GT and I also have this problem...
the installation goes perfectly but when I launch the game, well... message "tomb raider underworld has stopped working"...
I don't really know what to do anymore because, after checking, my PC has capabilities well above those required...

Hi,
I have the same problem as you and I sent an email to Eidos because I can't contact technical support by phone.
My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.
I'm a fan of Tomb Raider and I can't play it, and it's really frustrating.
If you find the solution, think of me.

No worries, I managed to reach them tonight and they should, hopefully, send me the links for the updates to my video card and for the sound card...
I'll keep you posted if it works...
For the hotline, feel free to call but you have to insist... I called at least 5 times tonight before I got through...
Catch you later!

Hello!
I am a big fan of Lara Croft and I also have a lot of problems with Tomb Raider, except that mine stops during installation right at the beginning and it can last for hours with my home computer...
I called the technical support 5 times yesterday and I still haven't received any answers...
So I decided to install it on my laptop, but this time the installation was completed but a message appears when I confirm the settings telling me something about the current Direct3D settings or something like that... in any case, I am really annoyed and I can't get a refund unless Eidos sends me a letter... I'M SO FED UP!!!

Uh, please, I also have an installation problem. At the end, I get a message saying that Direct3D is not compatible, and so on. I looked in the readme file, and for the graphics card, it says you need an ATI 1800XT or better, but I have an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. I would like you to let me know if it's compatible, as I'm not too good at tinkering with computers.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.
It depends on your PC, whether it's worth boosting it and what you want to do with your new GPU.
To get an idea, you should download Everest to find out your PC's configuration: http://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/telecharger 116 everest
You make a hardware report that you paste here.

Hello,
I just bought Tomb Raider Underworld... okay, I'm a year late!
All excited, I put the CD-ROM in my drive, I go to explore because the autorun doesn’t start. I click on autorun then installation, but nothing happens.
Finally, I try directly clicking the setup icon, I allow access, and then... it asks me to insert the original Tomb Raider disc #1! Knowing that it is already inserted (otherwise I wouldn't have access to the setup...), what should I do???
Thanks for your replies!

Mobil Interl(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, is that good?
and to see it since I'm a fan, I don't miss a single TOMB RAIDER, I've played all of them except for the 2012 one.
To get back to it, I didn't change the graphics card, I simply overclocked it.
See you later,
