Insufficient USB resources problems
Hello,
I’m facing a USB issue that I can't resolve despite lots of testing. I’m looking for help to identify the cause.
Configuration :
Motherboard: MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi (MS-7E56) rev 1.0
BIOS: recently updated to version 1.AA2 (before I was on 1.A20 from 02/12/2024)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8 cores / 16 threads)
GPU: NVIDIA (drivers up to date)
System: Windows 11 preinstalled with the PC
AMD/NVIDIA drivers up to date
Affected peripherals :
Headset: SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
Used only with the USB dongle (not Bluetooth)
Connected with the original cable/dongle
Microphone: Elgato Wave:3
USB cable tested with another cable → same issue
Symptoms :
When I connect only :
the SteelSeries headset → works perfectly
the Elgato Wave:3 microphone → works perfectly
But as soon as both are plugged in at the same time :
Windows shows a message like "Insufficient USB resources"
The headset remains visible in Windows but I don’t have any sound
The microphone continues to be detected
Tests already performed :
✅ Updated MSI BIOS to the latest version
✅ Tried several USB ports :
USB 2.0 rear
Front USB 3.0
USB 5G rear
USB 10G rear
Same result everywhere.
✅ USB power management disabled :
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" disabled
✅ Reinstalled USB devices in Device Manager
✅ Test without :
SteelSeries GG
SteelSeries Sonar
Elgato Wave Link
Problem persists even without these software.
✅ Disabled virtual audio devices :
SteelSeries Hands Free
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device
VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO
No change.
Audio devices detected in Windows :
AMD High Definition Audio Device
AMD Streaming Audio Device
Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (x2)
Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Hands Free
Elgato Wave:3
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (WDM)
Realtek(R) Audio
VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO
USB Controllers :
In Device Manager :
1 Generic USB Hub
2 Generic USB Devices
No yellow triangle or visible error
This is a recap made by AI because I’ve tried to troubleshoot but can’t.
Thank you for your consideration
