ASUS ZENBOOK Brightness Issue

Hello everyone,

This is my first message on this forum that has helped me so much in the past.

After breaking my ASUS ZENBOOK, I purchased a LENOVO YOGA PRO 3. But after noticing the brightness was too low and the color rendering was "yellowish", I exchanged it for a new ASUS ZENBOOK UX303L (core i5, 8g of RAM).

My problem is the following: the screen brightness, even when set to maximum, seems too low (compared to my old ASUS, the ratio is about 1/3).

At first, I thought it was the computer and that it was just like that. Then when I turned off the computer, I noticed that suddenly it lights up (during the "reboot" message on a Windows 8 background) and the brightness increases.

After rebooting, on the wallpaper photo, it maintains that brightness. But as soon as I enter the password and arrive at the desktop, the brightness drops again...

This drives me crazy because I find this laptop (the Lenovo was the same) way too "dim" despite all its qualities...

I checked the graphic configurations, the Intel menu, color settings, etc.... I can't find ANYTHING.

But if the brightness increases when it shuts down, it shows that it is AT LEAST CAPABLE of it! So how do I fix this?

Thank you in advance for your valuable help!

Benoit

Thank you for this very quick reply!
However, I just noticed the presence of a small bulb on the "Q" key.
By pressing FN+Q, the brightness increases tremendously!
So, the issue is resolved :) !!!

And on the key next to it, still using fn, it accents.

Yes, it is not clearly indicated, but pressing the FN key with the Q key simultaneously will activate/deactivate the automatic brightness adjustment via the sensor, and there... miracle, you will really be able to adjust the minimum and maximum with FN + F5/F6.
