My brightness keeps lowering by itself.

Good evening,

I have a laptop (a HP Pavilion) and it has an annoying tendency to lower the brightness when I unplug it.

To be simple: when the PC is plugged in, brightness is set to max, I unplug it and the brightness suddenly decreases even though the setting is still at maximum. When I plug it back in, the brightness gradually returns.

The automatic brightness adjustment is indeed disabled, so it shouldn't be too complicated a problem, but I can't find a solution and it's quite frustrating.

Additionally, from time to time (most often when I have a black screen), the brightness decreases (even though the setting is still at max) and I have to lower it and then raise it again to get back my initial brightness (this problem occurs even when the PC is plugged in).

I think these two "problems" are related.

Thank you :)

Configuration: Windows 8 / Chrome 46.0.2490.71

    Hi,

    --> Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options

    Make sure "Balanced" is selected and not "Power Saver"...
