Stuck in the BIOS
SolvedMarwan -
Hello everyone,
Here is my problem :
When I start the PC, it gets stuck on the motherboard presentation screen with the following message at the bottom :
- Press DEL to enter Setup.
If I press DEL (the Delete key on the keyboard) when the keyboard lights up (the 3 LEDs on the keyboard turn on), it works for a fraction of a second.... "If I wait, it's too late, keyboard inactive"
A second message appears :
- Entering Setup.
And then nothing, impossible to do anything ... I press the ENTER key .... The keyboard seems to be disconnected ...
I tried removing the battery from the motherboard, changing the jumper to reset the CMOS .... unplugging and replugging all the peripherals from the motherboard ... (CD/DVD drive, HDD, fan)
Still no change.
If someone can help me solve the problem, I would be very grateful.
I don't know what to do anymore. :'(
Thank you in advance.

And I don't think I fried anything because after formatting it was working perfectly. A few days later, after several restarts, it showed me this all by itself.....
As for messing with the PC, yes, I formatted it recently. I just unplugged the cables to remove some dust. But I know a bit about it and all the connections are correct. I reconnected them to check if that was the problem.
Connection problem or motherboard / processor / graphics card .......
Damn it ...
The connections are correct though
Motherboard - ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
CPU - AthlonXP 32 3800+
RAM - 3GB DDR
Graphics Card - Gforce 7900GT 256MB
HDD - 80GB
2 DVD drives
4 fans + 1 integrated in the motherboard
That's it, I think.
Confli DD with the BIOS ...
The PC boots up fine with no issues, no more error messages on startup.
THANK YOU so much for your help in this long process.
I was pretty scared at times :D.
And you know, PC = Little Bastard ..... ;D
Anyway, thanks again for everything.
Anyway, it also depends on whether when you turn on your PC you see nothing lighting up? Nothing spinning, nothing at all? ^^
try changing the connection mode of your keyboard, switch to USB or PS2... if you can get into the BIOS and load the default settings...
besides that, did you change something, a device or a software installed just before your PC crashed?
Otherwise, for this kind of problem where the PC gets old, you'll need to check with customer service (after-sales service); they have the equipment to test and repair your issue (if you're no longer under warranty, it may cost between €50-100 depending on the company)

Google is a friend who wants to help you :)
I'm removing the memory sticks.
I'm only plugging in one into the last unused slot.
It's showing the message and stops on the PC's characteristics with a black screen.
- CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded
*** Warning: Your computer CPU fan Fail or speed too low***
You can also disable this warning message in SETUP
My CPU fan works more or less (I think it’s running as usual oO ...)
What would you do? Should I go into the BIOS and disable the CPU FAN alarm?
After trying it with the fan reconnected and doing what you suggested, but personally I don't think disabling the alarm will solve your problem.
First, see if the PC boots now (without the fan) and keep us updated :)
Edit: on rereading, I think you might take my first sentence the wrong way, but don't, okay? ^^' I mean if you know how to do it, go ahead, otherwise check with customer service ;)

Have you tested booting without the fan? Since you have 4 next to it, leaving the PC open shouldn’t cause overheating, right?

Do you have another graphics card? Or an integrated one?
