Hello,
I bought a Canon Powershot S3 IS camera a year ago. It worked wonderfully until I returned from vacation... I don't know if it handled the trip well, although it's not the first time it has traveled. When I turn it on to see my photos, no problem, the screen lights up and shows the photos. But when I switch the dial to photo mode to take pictures, the screen is black. The most surprising thing is that when you press the "shutter" button to take a picture, it doesn't appear on the screen but shows up in the viewing mode for the photos. I don't know if there is a setting issue or if it's a bad contact on the screen...
If you've had the same problem or know what to do, could you please let me know what to do and if the repair is expensive?
Thank you for your possible responses.

What you seem to be describing could be one of two cases, but I would lean more towards the first.
Let me explain! On most devices, there is a small button near the screen that allows you to use either the viewfinder only, the screen, or both. So check if that's what it is. On a Kodak, it’s a button called evf/lcd.
If that's not it, then it will become critical. That would mean the device has traveled once too often or has taken one photo too many. In that case, check if it’s still under warranty or use it without the screen, but just with the viewfinder.

I found a button called Disp., I pressed it and the screen came back =D.
Thank you, I was really scared about having to go to the photographer and paying more for the repair than the camera.
Thank you very much ;)

Good evening,
I apologize for this late response, but an internet malfunction since my last message prevented me from replying, and it has just been fixed.
I’m glad that it’s resolved. Sometimes, a little accidental push of a button can cause problems without us really knowing what has happened.
Happy shooting!
