Black screen for several seconds after alt+tab

I have had a problem for several years that bothers me a lot. Every time I use alt+tab while I'm in a full-screen game, I get a black screen for about 5 seconds, whether I'm exiting the game or coming back to it. When I'm in borderless window mode, there is no problem, but most of my games don't have that option, or if they do, the game looks worse or brighter. I'm on Windows 10 and I've already tried methods like disabling Game Mode in Windows, but it hasn't changed anything. I feel like it's more of an issue with my screen, but I'm not sure.
