Hello,
As a teacher, I want to project Word documents to my students. However, when I connect my laptop (new) to my projector (new) with a 15-meter VGA cable, the image flickers every 3 seconds or so.
I have done some tests to determine the source of the problem.
- With the 2m VGA cable sold with the projector, the image is fine.
- If I connect with the 15-meter cable, my desktop computer, purchased 2 years ago (Windows XP), and my projector, the image is fine.
- The image is also fine if I connect with the 15-meter cable from my projector to an old computer I bought in 1997 (Windows 95).
Specifications of my laptop:
Toshiba Satellite L300D-115
* AMD Athlon X2 TK-57 Processor (1.9GHz)
* 120GB Hard Drive (5400rpm) SATA
* 1GB DDR2 RAM (667MHz)
* 15.4" Wide 16:10 XGA TruBrite Display with Integrated Webcam
* DVD-Super-Multi Writer (+-R DC)
* ATI Xpress 1200 up to 319MB shared
It runs on Vista. Could Vista be the cause of the problem?
The 15-meter VGA cable does not have ferrites. Should I consider buying one with ferrites?

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. My laptop does not work with 2 new projectors but it works very well with 3 other projectors. Other computers work very well with these projectors.
I've tried quite a few things without success. In my opinion, it's a problem with the graphics card, but what exactly should I do?
It's really frustrating not to understand where the problem comes from. And especially how to know, when buying a laptop, whether it will be compatible with most projectors.
I will keep looking......
