Hello,
So here it is, I need to recover data from a disk but the problem is that I don't have access rights.
I know how to change the owner of a folder and add rights for certain users, but I have two problems:
1st problem: No matter how many times I check the box to apply my ownership change to the subfolders, it doesn’t work. I have to go into each folder and type everything by hand folder by folder, and the same goes for the files within those folders (e.g. .doc, .jpg, .avi, etc.).
2nd problem: When I transfer this data to another system, I won’t have access to the data, and I will have to repeat the process...
I would like to know if there is a miracle solution to change or remove the security settings of these folders, a solution other than properties/security/change the owner...
Thank you in advance.

Hello
If you have XP Pro, you can easily do this.
Just right-click on the root of the folder, choose Properties, go to the Security tab, and click on the Advanced Settings button.
Simply check "
Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries listed here that apply to child objects" and click Apply.
To avoid having to do this again in the future, just copy the folder to another hard drive; this way, the NTFS permissions will change.
