unblock USB port access Solved

Question

Hello,

When I plug in a USB drive or any other device using the USB port, a message appears:
"Restriction warning: the administrator has forbidden access to USB mass storage devices / 1394 mass"

The only problem is that I am the administrator of the PC and I haven’t forbidden anything (at least not intentionally)
I am using Windows XP.

In the Device Manager, there are no exclamation points; everything is functioning normally.
I even disabled the antivirus and firewall.

If you have any ideas?

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Finally Jied, you had the solution

however, I had to uninstall Elock management before proceeding with your solution

Summary of the solution:
install and download from the site ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/desktop/empowering_technology the acer empowering technology framework
install and download from the site ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/desktop/empowering_technology/eLock_1.7.6.17.zip
restart, launch the framework application and then eLock (start all acer empowering technology programs acer eLock)
lock the drives (you need to generate a password)
once locked, unlock it and restart.

Re! The only problem is that I'm the administrator of the PC and I haven't prohibited anything (at least not intentionally). Maybe doing a system restore if it's been happening for not long. Is it possible for the computer to revert from a USB 2.0 port to a USB 1.0? If so, how can I switch it back to 2.0?
I have 5 "standard USB host controllers" and one PCI to standard extended USB host controller.

On another note, regarding restoration, I've never done that before. How can the PC perform a restoration (do I need to specify a date when the problem didn't exist)?

The problem has only appeared in the last few days. I have since uninstalled a software and defragmented.

for the restoration > start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restoration > create a restore point > next > and on the right you have a calendar, if there are dates marked in bold, choose one and ok. then you need to follow the instructions and it will tell you to restart the computer.
can the computer revert from a usb 2.0 port to a usb 1.0? if so, how do you set it back to 2.0?

I indeed had restore points in bold, so I chose a date when I was perfectly sure that the problem did not exist at that time, I performed a restore that ended incomplete with the reason that no changes had been made since that day.

When I plug in the USB drive, it is well detected but it is not accessible, as if the PC settings wanted to protect the data contained in it.

For example, my printer is on a USB port, I can print (so output), but I cannot retrieve the data on my Memory Stick that I need to plug into the printer to read it.

When I right-click to open or explore, a window opens saying "access denied"   apparently, my PC doesn't want me to open files from outside.

I thought the problem was only related to the USB ports, but when I tried to read what was on a CD-ROM, I received a similar message: "The administrator has restricted access to CD/DVD Rom drives."

I do think that some security must have locked somewhere to prevent information from external media (USB, CD-ROM) from being read.

Where can I find it to disable it??? Mystery.

The location of the peripherals is always at 0. Is this normal?  Is it a virus? Yet Norton found nothing, and neither did Avast.

Good evening! Yet Norton found nothing, nor did Avast. Having two antivirus programs at the same time creates a conflict!! You should only have one! What can happen, on rare occasions, is that your USB ports may have unfortunately burned out; in that case, buy a PCI controller card and juggle with the hubs (unless you change the motherboard!). Otherwise, what is likely is that you added hardware to your PC and your power supply is not sufficient! --  See you! Live life to the fullest!!! Life is so short!!!

Try to do it like this, it's a solution I found in a document 1 - properly shut down the PC, 2 - unplug the power cord from the PC, 3 - press and hold the power button on the PC for at least 30 seconds, 4 - plug the PC back in and restart.   --  See you later Live life to the fullest!!! Hello,  I had the same issue... and I found the solution here: https://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/Hardware/lecteur-graveur/probleme-unite-optique-sujet_750250_1.htm  It works even if it's not an Acer PC.  You need to install the Acer Empowering Technology Framework before installing Acer eLock Management.

This is an Acer PC (Acer Power F6 to be precise).   I have "Empowering Technology" installed on my PC (from the start)   I don't think it's necessary for me to download it.   I have locked and unlocked all devices from the Acer Elock management.   But I still can't access the files on my devices (CD, USB stick, memory card, etc.).
