I receive calls from unallocated numbers. Solved

Hello,

I have received three missed calls from the following numbers within a week:
+330899650185
+330899781474
+330899781018
When I call each of them back, I am told that the number is not assigned!
I know that +33 is the country code for France, but there is no "0" after. Is it directly +338 for 08?
I am trying to find out where it comes from and who it might be, can you provide me with information? Configuration: Windows XP

If someone really needs to reach you, they have your cell phone, they can leave you a message...

I will try to explain why here...without revealing how or why, I can confirm that you should never call back a call of this type on one hand and on the other hand confirm the following information:

There are two types of numbers, assigned fixed numbers and mobile numbers! It is obviously the second type that interests us, the kind 08 .....09..... These numbers are mostly premium-rate, you may not notice it (between 0.25 and 1 Euro per call) but I’ll let you multiply by 100,000!

Yes, sometimes work doesn’t have to be hard to pay off since calls cost them nothing! yes NOTHING! As soon as you call back, lucrative companies registered in Luxembourg or elsewhere are happy to cash in on your CALL BACK!

The other nuisance, which is less costly, comes from numbers like 01 7.... or other fixed numbers, most of these are commercial fax lines (hence the beeping or special ringtone you hear, generally between 1 and 5 in the morning; no wonder it’s cheaper at night, obviously!!!!). There's no need to get excited about calling back or tracking down France Telecom or other information services... you won’t get anything, these numbers are not assigned, they are virtual services in a way! The only solution is to turn off your phone, program it to be silent between midnight and 8 am (most phones do this, just look a little...) and let it ring into the void (they regularly update their lists, no response = number to remove from their database!)

From your Family?
From your Close Ones?
From Friends?
Your acquaintances surely have your cell, they can leave you a message can't they??

If it’s a company wanting to offer you the mega promo of the month, then they can certainly leave you a message or call back later.

So don’t be too curious or too greedy; never call back numbers that seem strange to you, and this applies to your emails, don’t believe in incredible gains or other extraordinary deals (like a car paid in cash by western union but with customs fees to pay in advance, veterinary fees to pay before sending the dog you’ve wanted for so long, a meeting in a parking lot at 4 am, etc., and I could go on......) you risk getting taken for a ride.

I receive calls several times a week from the number 01.50.59.00.00. When I answer, all I hear is a busy signal, and when I call this number back, a voicemail informs me that this number is not assigned. Could you let me know who I should contact to find out who owns this number?

I also have this kind of problem except that the number is assigned because I call it from time to time.
I'm with Orange, and when I call a friend's mobile (who hasn't deleted his number), I hear several times that the number is no longer assigned, then after many attempts, it rings!

No, people calling from a Live box or Freebox or whatever now display their number as 09, even if it still works as 08. You must have received a letter or an email about this.

Hello,

On my part, after posting an ad to sell my car, a guy contacted me in very poor French to offer to buy it, knowing he would be in Ivory Coast; it smelled like a scam from a mile away.

And today, I received a call from +330899781474 that I didn't even hear, then an email from the same guy telling me that someone is speaking on my behalf on my voicemail!!! Suspicious, I tell you...

The other day I received a text that said: "Hi, it's me? I'm still waiting for your call, it's like I gave you my number for nothing, call me back at 08********." That's word for word, letter for letter what I received, there's just one hitch... the number that sent it started with +358 (the Finnish dialing code...) So I typed 08******** into Google "just to see" and it was part of a list of scam numbers: these are phone scams, they're coming back in style...  Basically, when you call, you get charged (even if it rings busy).

0899 = 1.34 euros per call + 0.34 euro/minute  Here’s the scam: A number beginning with 0899 (or more rarely 0897) calls you, and you don’t have time to answer because the call lasts 1 or 2 seconds. If you're naive, you call this premium rate number back, and there’s either no one on the line or just music on a loop.  Some have lost 10 to 15 euros because of these scammers... and unfortunately, the scams are not over. After the calls from 0899, there are the texts asking you to return a call to an 0899, and currently, there are messages like: "this caller has left you a video message, to view it, send..."

You really enjoy paying the surcharges from the 08 numbers, don't you?  They'll be scams! You call back and pay the extra charge.. the rest is just bogus!!  Just check your next phone bill.. you'll understand.  Similarly: when they call, you pick up and:  you have received an important message, call back the 08 *******..  Don’t call back!  If it were really important, it wouldn't be a message or a voicemail talking to you.  Another one:  you have a parcel waiting, to pick it up call 08 ******  If I had a parcel waiting, I would get a notice of passage or collection in my mailbox, whether virtual or real.  And they wouldn’t be calling us like through a voicemail of their own accord.    -- The keyboard/chair interface is the most difficult to set up.

Hello, so I have a different case than yours... actually, I missed a call and when I tried to call back, it said "this number is not valid" and when I looked closer at the number, I noticed it was missing 2 digits, like: 01-57-28-99. Hello, All these posts explain well the situation, the discomfort, the harassment, and especially the scam that we are all suffering from, since they no longer respond to hidden numbers. The aim is, of course, to arouse interest, since the numbers often appear real, usually 8 digits long and starting with 08 or 09, but they are either premium-rate on callback or allow them to know if someone is there to be able to phone back persistently hours or minutes later. So, we all have the same problem, but no one proposes a solution.  In case 1: I believe that the operators are complicit since they allow these harassing companies to have fake temporary numbers and thus participate in the scam. I would like to know if there is already a collective legal action against the operators that support this system and where we can subscribe? And also file a complaint.  In case 2: same as for case 1, and additionally here is a method that works quite well: Answer and after the caller introduces themselves, say "don't hang up, I'll put you through" put it on speakerphone and wait a moment and say "are you still there?" You will be answered yes, say "that's good" without further ado, and etc... they are paid on results, and when they remain silent, they get noticed. The aim is to keep them engaged; you'll have a fun moment and get rid of them because they hang up quickly, obtaining nothing but an expensive wait.
