Good evening Briquet, do you want a light? ;-)
In Prefetch, you can absolutely delete everything if your system is healthy. Prefetch is just another cache that, by trying to speed up the system, ends up slowing it down.
If you have any doubts about the health of your system, delete everything except Layout.ini (we're still in Windows/Prefetch). Logically, this file will rebuild itself automatically, but in case of doubt, leave it; it's not bothersome.

for your files in the prefetch folder, you can delete everything except the layout.ini file
otherwise, also check your program files to see if there's still an emule folder, as there will certainly be some traces left in the registry that you can manually remove if you feel brave enough...

Hello
ccleaner can clear prefetch if you
1 check the box "windows" "advanced" "old prefetch data"
2 uncheck "options" "advanced" "only clear files from the windows temp folder older than 48 hours" (the old ccleaner mentioned prefetch, the new one says temp)
This is the setting used for infection and software uninstallation scenarios, adapt it for yourself.
On a daily basis, you do the opposite for these 2 boxes; at first, the prefetch is empty, applications take a long time to load, but with each program opening, prefetch learns the list of files to load for each application. Once it knows them all, windows is quick to open applications.
That's why ccleaner has 2 settings, and how to use it daily or in a case like yours.

Good evening Ben,
thank you very much for your explanations! I went into prefetch and deleted the 2 emulators, left everything else untouched!
Several of them, by the way, no names that could indicate what they are! I saw Avast I think, layout for sure, but a whole bunch of others
and since I don't know what they are for, I won't touch them.
In principle, then apart from layout, everything is useless? Why do you say older than 48 hours?
See you!

Older than 48 hours is the setting in CCleaner that makes this distinction. We delete nothing, or just what is older than 48 hours, or everything depending on the two boxes regarding prefetch. But you did it manually, so you could check the name of the mule on the files. CCleaner is useful if we don't want to open system directories and see hidden files.
Hi Ben,
Actually, in advanced, it's already checked: old Prefetch data I have ccleaner version 2.06.567
in Windows Explorer I've checked: recent documents
is it the same as what you were talking about?
thanks again.
but I have a problem, in my interventions: message title RED BRICK from avast error, lermite
tells me he thinks I have something shady on my computer and that I should do a hijackthis, but I
did that with a relative who is not in the area, and through remote assistance, but right now
I can't reach him, and it's a shame because I'm encountering a lot of new problems, and sometimes it’s mostly
the right decisions that are hard to make.

In the register, it only cleans "orphaned" keys that have already lost their files deleted by another means; it is safer than other cleaners for that, as it reduces the risks.
To truly erase all keys, a search with a more powerful cleaner that shows all the keys will be better, it's true. Backing up the registry before modification allows for a rollback in case of error.

Hello
For recent documents in Windows Explorer, it’s the dropdown menu that shows the latest documents you’ve opened, CCleaner clears this memory and the dropdown menu is empty.
This prevents another user from knowing which files you’ve opened. So it has nothing to do with prefetch.
You seem both meticulously curious about what’s hiding in the PC, but not interested in HijackThis for helpers. The mule can cause major issues and you delete it; you found and deleted an infected file some time ago. Avast finds nothing and I suppose Ad-Aware doesn’t either. A squared free version can serve as a second antispyware if you want.
I also suggest Malwarebytes for an immediate scan to alleviate some of your doubts about Avast.
Actually, it’s more of an antispyware and anti-rootkit anti-trojan, it’s not active once closed, and you can keep it too. It’s good.
And there’s no conflict with others.
Installation, check the French box in the settings tab which becomes paramètres, updates tab: check for updates, scan tab: click on complete scan then search. The scan takes less than a quarter of an hour and you can see the result. For the first scan, no need to boot in safe mode, once you’re familiar with it, you can also try in safe mode. And to stay free, just do nothing in the protection tab.
Blank page or it finds an intruder. It displays a notepad that you can save with the report.
You have the option to clean immediately: the boxes next to the infected lines are already checked, just click at the bottom left.
Or you wait to do another scan to clean if you hesitate.
And in case of doubt before cleaning, it’s easy to edit the report in the notepad; if no infected files are present, there are no personal data, only the username in the path of the infected file will need to be erased before copying everything to the forum.
Here’s the tutorial:

There you go, if you want to try it, it’s very simple.

Good evening Ben,
Thank you for all this information!
Yes, I do care about doing a HijackThis, but on the other hand, I like to know the
why and how! The ins and outs! So as not to act like a robot!
To really understand this demanding and unpredictable computer!
And also, I'm trying to piece things together, according to the indications from the HELPERS? Is that right?
As for safe mode, it's not my specialty, and I certainly wouldn’t manage it.
Is it really necessary? You mention at first that it's not needed, but then I'm apprehensive!!!!
Well, I'll see!
Everything you suggest really seems to hold up!
I hope I have the patience to tackle this properly and seriously, what kind of beast is it?
It's nice of you to help me!
See you!

1 Db eMule incoming logs
for now, I put them in the recycle bin.
but how do I access Prefetch?
THANK YOU in advance
