Hello,
According to what I've read in other posts, to transfer my mini DV films to my PC, I need a FireWire IEEE 1394 card, a IEEE 1394 cable with 2 different ends (one DV input on the camcorder and I'm not quite sure what the other end is? the card?) and some software like WMM. Can someone explain clearly what this card is? Which one should I get? How much does it cost? And what's the exact connection between all this stuff ^^ please
since I have a laptop, DELL Inspiron 6400.
Thanks in advance ;) !

Hi, I have the same problem as you, I don't know how to transfer my videos from my Samsung VP D371 camcorder to my Sony laptop: ???
Can you help me please, thanks!! -
Hello, I found a mini DV cable that I connect to my camcorder VP-D371 with a USB output for the computer, but I need to install the drivers (which I haven't found yet). If you have a tip, thanks in advance! Cable purchased very easily in Andorra!!

Came across this post late
Firewire cable allows connecting devices with a Firewire or IEEE1394 port
The Dell laptop has this port on the right side (mini firewire) and the camcorder as well
Just pull the protective cover on the right and you uncover the mini din video port and on the viewfinder side the mini DVi
The connection cable will be a mini firewire Male/Male (4 pins), the DV max has 6 pins but the connector is, be careful, larger
By launching the Movie Maker software (free with Windows XP), the cam is recognized and the capture is done through the set of questions
Video editing is then a pleasure

Problem solved ???? my Samsung VP-D371 is not recognized either by USB or with a FireWire IEEE 1394 6c/4c cable. Do you have the solution? Thank you.

Hello,
Still no problem resolved... and I've changed my computer (Samsung NC10)
To whom it may concern... -
Hello
A video capture card - It's a card that you place in your PC (HARD), and a cable is needed to connect your camcorder to your PC (you also need to have a good configuration on it).
On Movie Maker, there is already a function "Video Capture".
For me, it's VEGAS that I like.
Since you have a camcorder, you should also have a burning software, which also has a capture function (Nero for example).
My regards
