Hello,
Windows 7 does not recognize my Panasonic Mini DV NVGS 140 camcorder
So it is impossible to read or edit my DV videos.
Is there a driver that allows this under Windows 7
Thank you for your response
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello, here is the rule:
Analog video transfer box
Hello, to transfer content from an analog cassette VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8 or an analog video stream, you need to connect the camcorder or VCR or another device to an “external box” that handles the hardware conversion of the analog stream to digital, and connect the box to the computer via a USB cable; the file is converted to MPEG2, an easy-to-burn format compatible with all players and with the possibility of editing with » Studio
You connect the box and the camcorder with an S-VHS or composite (less good) connection (RCAs yellow) and a cable for audio (2 RCAs red and white). For the VCR you need a SCART connection with an adapter or cable with the “out” direction or with an in-out switch, S-VHS output or composite RCA yellow (less good) plus the audio, two RCA red and white outputs
remember to select PAL to have color
I recommend the Dazzle box, either “Recorder” DVD only or Platinum depending on your need
the price of the STUDIO 14 HD software (61 €) included with the latter makes the product interesting
there are exotic products like USB sticks and 4 cables, cheaper but beware, they are often a source of hassles, as seen by desperate member messages on the forum
the format being 4/3, the image quality can only be judged on a TV screen once the film is burned

My bad, I got the topic wrong: Transferring mini DV or HDV tapes to a laptop or desktop PC requires the PC or laptop to have a FireWire or iLink (IEEE 1394) input — it’s the same thing. Do the transfer with a Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (Mac) or a commercial editing software. The computer recognizes the camcorder immediately for capture. An internal IEEE 1394 (FireWire or iLink) card installs easily on a desktop PC. If you’re using a laptop that doesn’t have this input, a second solution is to check if the laptop has a side “ExpressCard” slot (PCMCIA) protected by a plastic insert; there are ExpressCard FireWire adapters: https://www.amazon.fr/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=firewire+expresscard&tag=googhydr0a8-21&index=aps&hvadid=9215056378&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=101097741010537552&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_6kh108ih4c_b
