Hello,
I've been trying for some time to fix a problem on my daughter's PC, a Dell Inspiron 1501 running XP.
The issue observed is a significant delay in the display of typed text (several seconds), whether in Internet Explorer or in another application (e.g. Windows Explorer or Copernic).
I initially posted the problem on the virus forum, and with FunnyGirl, we tried to track down a virus or malware that could be causing it. So far, everything possible has been attempted on that front, and the problem doesn't seem to stem from there.
See the initial discussion here:

I'm now looking into a Windows cause: a damaged registry issue, a keyboard driver problem?
Can someone help me with this search?
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    Hello,
Apparently no one wanted to help me on the Windows forum, but I want to inform you that I solved my problem by reading various discussions on the American DellCommunity forum, which show that the issue has several potential sources.
In my case, the problem is related to a service provided by the ATI graphics card of the Dell Inspiron 1501, the HotKey Poller, which starts automatically and is used to manage keyboard shortcuts for changing display settings, basically, something that is never useful! See the description of this here:

In my case, I started by going to the advanced display settings to launch ATI Catalyst Control Center and I disabled the hotkeys, then I rebooted. At that point, I noticed that the problem was still present and that the process Ati2evxx.exe was still active. I then launched services.msc and disabled the automatic startup of this Ati HotKey Poller service (Ati2evxx.exe), and since then, miracle, the problem has disappeared!
Can you mark this thread as resolved, so my experience can help someone else?
    Thank you.
