Character erased or replaced, keyboard typing

Hello,

I often find that in Word, Outlook, in Orange email or other programs, suddenly my typing on the keyboard replaces the following characters in the text, instead of "pushing" them (in insertion).

I don’t know how this happens and I would like to know the steps to follow to revert to typing that does not erase the following characters in the text but inserts them instead.

Can someone tell me the procedure? I have a standard Logitech keyboard and Windows XP Home SP2.

Best regards to all

Have a nice day
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello, the overwrite mode is activated; to disable it, you need to press the Insert key on the keyboard, above Delete.

Thank you, it happens to me a lot and I never know what causes it as a typo. This time I'll remember!!
