Hello,

My Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop won't restart and gives me the following error message: system32\drivers\isapnp.sys. I went to the Microsoft website to find a solution, but the problem is that when I follow the instructions by typing: "ren c:\windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.old", I get: "access denied".

And I'm never prompted with: "On which Windows XP installation do you want to log on
(Press ENTER to cancel)? 1
Enter the Administrator password: "

If you could help me, I'm at my wits' end...
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.13

Hi
In that case, replace the file directly.

Hello everyone.

If he can't rename it, I don't know if he will be able to delete it...

What does it say if you type
SET
in the command prompt?

allowremovablemedia = false
nocopyprompt = false

It doesn't work, I've tried everything (with space, without space, uppercase, etc.) and it keeps telling me: "the command is not recognized."

Try

set allowwildcards = true
and so on...

I typed: "set allowwildcards = true" and it says: "the set command is currently disabled. The set command is an optional command in the recovery console that can only be enabled using the security analysis and configuration plug-in."
I didn't type the other commands as a result.

Normally you have access to all the commands.

I just typed the other commands and the response is the same every time: the set command is currently disabled.

I have already been there but (read above) at no time was I asked to enter my administrator password and as a result access is denied when I try to type "ren c:\windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.old".

at startup, did you try to boot in safe mode!
start and tap F8 on the Windows logo!
you have both accounts, administrator and user!
see how that goes!

The Windows logo never appears, but I pressed F8 and the result is always the same: a screen with Fujitsu Siemens appears at the bottom: bios setup boot menu skip boot logo then a black screen and white lines appear along the bottom of the screen, and after 5 minutes the following message appears: system32\drivers\isapnp.sys

Following the last post, it should read: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupted: system32\drivers\isapnp.sys

Have you tried pressing F2
and booting in the BIOS (starting) from Harddrive (HDD)?
See!

I am on Boot, 3: Hard Drive but how do I confirm? Pressing "enter" doesn't change anything...

The command to rename the damaged file, did you do it from the recovery console on the installation CD or from the pre-installed console on your laptop?

I am typing the commands under DOS with the installation CD.

When you are on the line c:\, if you type
cd windows
, do you end up in c:\windows?

At the command prompt I have this: C:\> and when I type cd windows it tells me: the path or file name is not valid.

Increasingly strange...

Did you put a space between cd and windows?

Yes yes, there's indeed space...

If your file is damaged or has been deleted,
due to one manipulation or another,
you will need to reinstall or repair your system!

bruno

So basically, I'm formatting while losing everything and it's pointless to take the computer to the repair shop that will do the same thing?

a system reinstall will restore your files without losing programs!
nor documents, but it's better to back them up, you never know!
0
bruno

so how do I reinstall it?
0
bruno

On the screen, it offers me: 1) to install Windows XP now, press Enter. 2) To recover or repair an installation, press R. 3) (the repair doesn't do anything, by the way) so how do I reinstall?

Save your documents and format. I think it's good.

But have you tried BartPE?

bruno > Anonymous user

I can no longer access my files, so backup is impossible (what is BartPE?)

PC Startup: My PC no longer restarts and gives me the following error message: c:\windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.
It suggests starting it with a Windows CD and pressing R to try to repair it.
But when I reboot my PC, the Windows CD does not start automatically, and it gives me the same message as before.

If you could help me, I can't take it anymore...

hello taracabrac

you need to check in your BIOS if your boot is set to CD/ROM!
start your PC and press F1 or Esc, then boot from CD/ROM and press enter!

Hello Tribun,
I did what you advised me, but it still gives me the same thing.
Press R and when I click on R, the PC automatically restarts, always giving me the same message to press R, so it has no effect.
I just want to format my PC since I can't find any other solutions, but nothing is working anymore; it won't give me access to format it. I don’t know what to do.

When starting your PC, press the F10 key and see what happens!
