Print spooler file not found

Solved

Hello,

My computer can no longer find the spooler file.

I have tried most of the steps indicated on the forum but none of them work.
When I am on "Computer Management/Services/Print Spooler" and I try to start it, a message indicates:
"Unable to start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.
Error 2: the file is not found"

I can no longer install any printers and all those that were installed have disappeared.

Can you help me?

Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Thank you, but I had already done this manipulation without success.

However, since then I found the solution and I even recovered all my drivers.

The manipulation:

Start, Run, MSCONFIG.EXE (this opens the system configuration utility)
select "diagnostic startup", then OK and restart
The computer restarts and reopens the system configuration utility
reselect "normal startup", then OK and restart

and there you go

RE,

I typed in "Run" "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe" and the file cannot be found. Can I recover it from somewhere else?

Thank you.

Hi
you start by running the command services.msc

there you look for the spooler and activate it by setting it to automatic startup

BNJR. My printer is stuck. After installation, it printed a test page, and then it printed a half page, meaning it stops before finishing. I manually remove the sheet and it keeps blinking and doesn't print. Please help. Thank you.

Did you try to solve the problem through the control panel ??????
Indeed, there is an integrated troubleshooting utility

Okay

You start it up, go to the Control Panel
on the right, switch it to classic view
then click on the printer and fax icon

there you should see your printer on the right, you have a troubleshooting utility

The problem is that there is one document pending and it mentions deletion, and I can't cancel it.

If you have the drivers on a CD

you remove the printer and then you reboot

upon launching XP you will have "new hardware detected"

then you insert the CD and install

It's good, it worked for me too. The print spooler was disabled, but I couldn't find it in services. However, with the command Start => Run => services.msc, I searched for and activated the print spooler, and everything is working again. The printer installed and everything...
Thank you very much!

Hello,

I also have the same issue, namely, "spooler file not found."

Did you resolve your issue, and if so, how?

Thank you in advance, best regards,

Good evening
. First of all, I analyzed my computer. Then I reinstalled my printer again after having uninstalled it, of course. You should try it too, and good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I had the same problem and I solved it as follows.

Right-click on drive C: then search for spoolsv.exe

Copy the spoolsv.exe file to the c:\windows\system32 directory if it exists
(mine was located in c:\windows\system32\dllcache)

Best regards,

Zack!

Hello,

I have tried all the manipulations you explained, including MSCONFIG.EXE, but it still doesn't work. My spooler remains missing. I also tried to repair my XP Pro SP3 version, but I couldn't do it, as at the beginning of the repair I got an error message saying "This version of XP cannot be upgraded" :-(
I really don't know what to do anymore... Can someone please help me?
Thank you very much in advance and have a nice day.
