Sound issue (switch speakers/headset)

Solved

Hello everyone :)

I just downloaded a driver to update my sound card (which was up to date according to Windows) because I had compatibility issues between Media Player, TeamSpeak, and WoW. Now I have no issues, but another one has arisen.

Before, I had sound on speakers (I play on a laptop, Acer 7720G), and when I plugged in headphones into the black port (at the front, I have 3 ports: a black one for headphones on the right, a pink one for the microphone to its left, and far left another one whose purpose I don't know), the PC would switch automatically, and the sound would come from the headphones.

Since this driver, even when I plug in headphones, the sound doesn’t come out; it always comes from the speakers.

I read on forums that it could be related to the motherboard, changing audio ports, and all that, but when I plug in my headphones it recognizes them, since I can do sound tests through the control panel (sound in the left ear, sound in the right, that indeed comes from the headphones!)

So I would like to know where this issue is coming from; thank you in advance =/

Hello
go to your audio manager, at the top right you have advanced device settings, click on it and check to have two audio streams played....

Thank you for your responses

As I am not an advanced user, especially regarding audio, I am not comfortable with the menus (especially Vista x_x) for audio.
So I don't see where to go, or I can't find the same menus as you...
Should I go to "Control Panel > System > Devices" or "Control Panel > Audio"?

your audio manager is either at the bottom in the notification bar, near the time (dark orange icon)
or in the control panel = realtek audio manager

Yeah, so I was in the right menu, but I still can't find any menu or checkbox to change this crap.

Maybe your advice is viable on XP, but under Vista it's not it =/

What surprises me is that before the driver, it was working perfectly, and since then, no. Yet before, I didn't have anything to configure for it to work.

Vista is very complicated. I'm on XP and the path is /control panel/sound and audio devices/audio. You normally have several tabs there, including audio/voice/hardware. On all these tabs, you have the brand of the headset you are using, codecs, devices, and normally, if there's one that doesn't work, it will be written. But check especially that the name of your sound card and your headset are the same. I hope it's the same under Vista.
