my cursor goes to the left

Hello,
For a few days now, my cursor has been moving to the left when I type, as if I were holding down the left arrow key. At first, I managed to cope, thinking it might be a bug... But now it's really becoming frustrating =S For example, when I go to the Start menu, it closes, and I don't even have time to select what I wanted before I’m back at the first step of the menu! But it's actually random; sometimes it constantly moves to the left, then it stops, and other times it only happens for a few letters... But I don't know what it is. I ran a scan with my antivirus (Avast!) but found nothing. I also checked my left arrow key, and that's not the issue ^^

I’m posting here hoping to help anyone who might encounter this problem one day and lands on this topic.

First of all, just check that your mouse (definitely wireless, the source of the issue) is properly connected to a PS2 port and not a USB one, as this avoids a whole bunch of random cursor movements. Also, do not connect to a PS2 port while the PC is on, so turn off your PC to avoid frying the port on your motherboard.

In my case, the issue simply comes from the Setpoint software (which manages the mouse and keyboard if your devices are Logitech) that messes up every 6 months or so, causing this recurring problem. The solution is simple: just turn off that damn software (task manager, then processes tab or Windows taskbar). Normally, your mouse should stop responding, and you just need to turn it back on using the keyboard, free of the bug. If the problem persists, update Setpoint.

Note that rebooting barely mitigates the problem, which returns a few minutes later. You need to manually turn off that damn software.
