warcraft 3 the frozen throne 1.21b aide. Solved

Question

Already surprised to see an update for war3 (with starcraft 2 in development and wow, it's surprising), I download it and restart the game..

There, no installation ... well, it's no big deal after all, it's just a legal crack to replace.

I restart the game, trying to connect to B.net... and that's when the drama starts...

I re-download the update and have to restart war3... patiently, I restart the game and it's drama again!

I re-download the update... etc. well, you got it :p

Not being completely idiotic (yes, I assure you), I go into the wa3 directory, look at the file "patch.txt" and see in the history "patch 1.21b ... blablabla (in English)".

Finding that strange, I do a little test by restarting the game ... inconclusive...
I go back into the directory and pound the mouse on "BNupdate"... which does nothing. Still patient, I download the entire patch 1.21b and pound it with the mouse which does nothing either...

A little solution? I really don't want to reinstall it...

This link generates a regedit:

Enter the path to your war3, click on generate, this saves a file that you accept.
Then you have to run it by double-clicking on it and select 'yes' to "add the data to the registry"

Then download your patch according to your version (language) => http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21224&searchQuery=1.21b&pageNumber=1

All that's left is to execute the patch (double-click ...)

Then we play!

NB: no-cd patches (cracks) have a high (bad) chance of requiring you to reinstall war3

I have quite a few people on my friend list who have the same problem as well: give us information about the full path of your war3? Is it c:\program files\warcraft III\* or something else if the path has changed you need to install war3 here (or copy the existing war3) then update and recopy your war3 (without the map folder to make it faster), the easiest being to have war3 in the right folder (unless you use multiple CD-keys - or you don't have enough disk space) Otherwise, you need to wait for a pactUpdate.exe to be released that accepts folder changes, which I’m monitoring with my friend list (they can only connect with their bot :S-t)  and there you go!

I tested the generator and changed my registry, it didn't work, my war3 is in program files, I don't understand   I'm struggling for a pathetic 10 KB update with an official crack, no more footies, no more TDs, no more manors! x) Who would have thought?

First, it's better to have DotA (RoC[3.7] and Tft[allstars]) ;)   Otherwise, if that really doesn't work, I advise you to take your maps/DOWNLOAD/ folder and copy it somewhere  Then uninstall War3 -'_-t But reinstall it in C:\program files\warcraft III (default folder) :)  Then take your DOWNLOAD folder and put it back in maps\ or do a 'select all' and copy all the maps into the maps\download folder.  All that's left is to launch war3, connect to Bnet (Europe/Northrend preferably), and let the automatic patching do its thing...  ... then PLAY!!  I'm on ventrilo and playing DotA, and we own the creeps!!! (obscure reference to Basshunter)   This is also the method that I think is essential for anyone who has used cracks (like no-cd)   Otherwise, Fayco, did you use the patch you got from the link (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21224&searchQuery=1.21b&pageNumber=1) that I posted, or did you try the auto patching again (by connecting to Bnet)?

Oh yes, I forgot. PS: There might be a patch 1.22 coming out... so if you installed patch 1.21b via the link http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21224&searchQuery=1.21b&pageNumber=1   and when you connect to Battle.net you are re-downloading updates, don't cancel them, it might be this new patch (but still check the release dates of the patch, just to be sure).   There you go, GL&HF.

I also just noticed that there was an update. I had a crack for battlenet 1.21a downloaded here http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/warcraft3reignofchaos.shtml (the one at the bottom)  The advantage is that it also works with 1.21b

Personally, I have the game and the patch that works, but once I restart the game or wait a bit outside of B.net, they tell me that "B.net cannot validate this version of the game and that I need to restart the game or manually reinstall the version." So seriously, their new update is a huge pain and given all the bugs it involves, I might as well get rid of it!!! *-*

hi   I can only respond to Pierre if you can't host a map, it's because the game's port is blocked! You just need to open it!   The issue is that SP2 blocks many ports by default!   I specify first that this works if you are in router mode, I haven't tried without router mode!   The procedure to follow is quite complicated! It actually depends on your ISP! With the Livebox, it seems to be very simple; you just need to enter the settings of your Livebox and configure your router! Personally, I have the Freebox and the issue is the same, you need to open the game's port!   The game's port (for War3 ROC) is 6112   I'll leave you the pleasure of searching on Google; I'm too lazy! ^^ You'll find all the necessary explanations for opening a port!

Hello, I have a problem with the Warcraft III Frozen Throne update. I recently reinstalled the game, and so far there have been no issues, but as soon as I click on "battle.net" in the main menu, it tries to download the update like with every new installation but stops immediately, telling me "update failed"... I searched and found the link to Blizzard's site https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/. Unfortunately, when you get there, it says to try again in a few moments... that there is a problem... anyway, the update is impossible from that side, so I would like to know if it was possible to download it elsewhere. I have the same problem.  It must be coming from Bnet Europe because I tested with the US server and it works (but then it doesn't recognize the CD anymore :(  Let's hope the issue is resolved quickly.

Hello, I also have an update problem since early this morning. After restarting the game and updating to the new patch, war3 refuses to launch, telling me that the CD cannot be found even though I have the original game CD in perfect condition in the drive... I have reinstalled the game several times to find a solution without success.

Seeing that the installpath file was missing, I decided to create it, so I launch War 3 after the creation, and to my surprise, everything goes well. So here, I have just resolved this problem; I hope it will help you. You just need to recreate the missing installpath file, and yes, it’s path and not patch.

Actually, what I wanted to say has been well summarized. Here, we're talking about 1.21, so there's no need to discuss 1.22 here. The two issues are different. Indeed, a new topic has been created, and the link is provided by StayCool right above.

As for whether it works, the solution is not mine but was seen on the Blizzard forum (the publisher of Warcraft), and it seems to have worked for some, but not for the people on this forum so far. If it works for you, feel free to mention it on the link provided by StayCool.

Personally, I don't have the problem; in fact, I would have liked to have it to see which solution works.

Summary:
- There is an issue.
- Related to the new patch
- There is a solution, which, although it doesn't seem to work for everyone, is worth testing

I reinstalled the game (ROC + TFT) and so I'm on version 1.07. I'm downloading the patches manually because when I go through bnet it says "the update has been successfully downloaded, click restart to relaunch warcraft" but nothing has been downloaded, and so it starts over without updating anything at all... And for the "manual" patches, I'm stuck on version 1.20e, where it's impossible to launch the others (it creates a "prepatch" text file without updating the game)

So, help, what should I do ><

For issues with the war.exe3 file not being recognized, look in the other pages of this discussion; three solutions have been proposed: download a Windows file that can read war.exe3, download it until it works. Some may then have the same problem as me: the Northrend server won't work, to remedy this, just wait; it took me a day while for others it took three weeks, there you go ^^

Hello, I have a problem too, here is my story:  I just started playing War3 again because I was bored and then, since it was still installed, I began to play again and it asks me if the CD is in the drive. I hadn't thought about putting the CD back in because I used to play without it and then I put the CD in, I launch Frozen Throne and it tells me "Warcraft 3 was unable to initialize" and it happens again: make sure the Frozen Throne CD is in the CD drive etc. etc................. Anyway, I hope to get some help please ^^

Hi folks, great tip that works, but for those who have had "complications," I suggest putting their game in c:/program files/warcraft3/, that will solve all your missing file problems (to be used with the registry tip). My friends, pleasure.
