Hello,

I need to insert special characters into the writing of my thesis that I can't find...
I need to mark consonants with a dot underneath the letter (subscript dot)

Thank you for your help, it's important... I am on a MacBook and using Word 2003...

Thank you
Configuration: Mac OS X Firefox 2.0.0.11

    Hello

    Ạạ

Would that work for you? I see them when previewing the message, but there's always the risk that a different font choice on another Mac could yield a strange result.

I obtained these characters using "Character Palette" in the "Input" menu represented by a small flag in the menu bar, toward the right.

If you don't see this menu:
    - System Preferences
    - International
    - Input Menu button
    • click in the Character Palette box
    • click in the Keyboard Viewer box
    • click in the Show Input Menu in menu bar box

    I found the characters above:
    - by choosing Roman in the drop-down Display menu at the top left of the palette
    - then selecting Latin in the left part of the window
    - then selecting A in the right part of the window, where an alphabet displayed
    - further down, I clicked on the little triangle Character Info
    - in the Related Characters window, I found the subscript A's
    - by clicking on them, it opens in the upper part, the Unicode Table (meh...)
    - by clicking Insert, in the bottom right, the character positions itself at the cursor in the current application.

    For fun: Ạ ḅịẹṇṭọṭ

    Good evening,

Would you find your happiness there: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E1%B9%A2
where there is information on Unicode characters?

    Sincerely.

    Good evening,

Word 2003 on Mac? tsk tsk, Office 2004 yes, 2001 yes Office X yes, but 2006 I think it's under Windows.

As for the underdot, used in some languages, it may be that the keyboard needs to be set up for one of those languages.

Thank you, I'm trying to keep going.
I found the characters on Wikipedia, but how do I insert them into my document?
    It's Word 2004 for me...

I'm still looking, if anyone has an idea on how to insert additional Latin characters...
    sniff I really need it...

    Thank you

Very happy to be of assistance. Good luck with your thesis, and you will become the empress of eccentric diacritics...

    Best regards

P.S.: I assume Dynicor = Nandy, right? Since you are now a registered and honorable member and you initiated the discussion, perhaps you can mark it as resolved? Thank you, and long live the subscript point!
