Hello,
I followed all the instructions to set up my account on the iPhone (the ones from the Orange iPhone website) and when I go into Mail it tells me "the connection to the server pop.orange.fr has failed." What's going on?
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello,
I just found a solution that works for me, here’s the complete tutorial I published online that could be useful for many people:
TUTORIAL FOR ALL FIRMWARES AND AN ORANGE ADDRESS
I just solved the famous problem of the ORANGE email box that only works halfway (perfect on Wi-Fi, but on 3G/Edge, receiving works but not sending), so I’m sharing my configuration which works for me anyway. I hope this helps you!
Prerequisites
* An iPhone/iPad, regardless of its generation and software version
* An Orange email address;
* The device containing the account information for this email box that is not functioning properly.
Malfunction Symptoms: Your iMachine receives and sends emails without any problem on Wi-Fi, but on the Orange network (3G, Edge...) either you cannot send emails but can receive them, or you can neither receive nor send emails.
Example email box (according to Orange: XX, which has the address name@orange.fr
1. In the Mail, Contacts, Calendars page, tap on your account (by default named after the first part of your email address, here XX.)
2. Check that it is activated (you never know :p), via the button (which should be blue) at the top labeled "Account".
ACCOUNT POP INFORMATION
- Name: enter whatever you want, here CXX
- Address: your email address, whether it is your phone number@orange.fr or your name@orange.fr. Examples: name@orange.fr or number@orange.fr (NOTE: I still use @wanadoo.fr and it works ;))
- Description: whatever you want, e.g. Mail Orange
RECEIVING SERVER
- Hostname: pop.orange.fr OR IF THIS IS NOT WORKING (only works on Wi-Fi, errors...) : pop3.orange.fr (I use the latter)
- Username: XX (= the first part of your email address)
- Password: the password of your email address (and NOT the one for your Orange Internet connection! Be careful, case sensitivity must be respected)
SENDING SERVER >
- Server: must be enabled
- Hostname: smtp.orange.fr
- Username: leave it blank (should display Optional in gray)
- Password: leave it blank (same)
- Use SSL: must be DISABLED
- Authentication: Password
- Server port: 25
(Return to SMTP<Account Name)
ADVANCED >
Delete: as you wish!
Use SSL: DISABLED!
- Authentication: Password
- Delete from server: as you choose
- Server port: 110
In principle, this should work... feel free to test by sending yourself messages from your iPhone on the same account (from XX to XX), by turning Wi-Fi ON and OFF; you will know if your box is functioning.
PS: my working config:
- iPhone 3G 16Go, firmware 2.1 jailbroken
- Origami Star plan for iPhone 2H+2H
- Orange email address linked to my Orange Internet subscription
- Functional (receiving/sending) on Wi-Fi, and on the Orange GSM network (3G, Edge, ...)

Thanks for the info. I managed to receive emails, but I'm still unable to send any!!! Do you have any other tips to make it work?
Talk soon!
I've had an iPhone 3G for a few days now, and I'm having trouble setting it up to receive my emails; I was able to receive them only once, but after modifying the settings, I can neither receive nor send emails... it's a wanadoo email address. I did what you suggested, but to no avail. I should mention that I don't get a very good 3G signal at home (2 or 3 bars), and I haven't been able to connect to Wi-Fi (I enter my WEP key, but it doesn't work...) Thank you for your help...
