Router port opening Castlenet cbw704ew

Hello,

I hope I’m posting in the right place..

I just received a "Numéricable offer to retain the customer" which turns out to be a nice all-black router, from the brand Castlenet, with the code name cbw704ew..
This router was supposed to allow me to upgrade from 2 meg to 30 meg while paying €10 less per month. So far, so good.

Internet works well, it's faster that's true, even if I don’t exceed 10 meg.

However, I am an avid Battlefield 2142 player, and when I connect to an online match and click on "join the game" after the map loads, everything starts displaying, then a "connection problem" message appears and poof, I get disconnected from the server.
After spending (too) long surfing through all kinds of forums without finding an answer, I realized that this router is actually a poisoned gift since it freezes as soon as it connects to a game server (I haven’t tried others to verify but quite a few topics confirm this fact).
It seems that I can unlock access to the Battlefield game server by opening certain ports.

I’m unfortunately a bit of a novice in computing (pardon the expression) and I don’t know what to enter when I get to the management interface of my router..

Here is an image of the ports I need to unblock
http://duborchestra.free.fr/img/Sans%20titre-1.png

And here is the port management interface of my router
http://duborchestra.free.fr/img/Sans%20titre-2.png
How do I do this please?

Thank you for your help!
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.11

Hello Blackfloyd51, the only thing that worked is the following:

    type http://192.168.0.1/ in your browser.
Then, type "MSO" as the username, and "changeme" for the password.

There, either you try to find the ports to open and enter them in "advanced" then "port triggering" (which worked for Emule but I haven't found the ports to open for BF2142),
or you go to "firewall", then "internet filter", then uncheck the box "firewall protection" --> don't even try if you don't have an effective antivirus and run an anti-spyware scan regularly.

By the way, if anyone knows the ports to open for BF2142, I would be grateful!

    Hello everyone

Thank you for your quick response.
The port to open for cod4 is 28960, then I completed the table

and I activate it but it still doesn't work
      shouldn't I do something else?

      Hello.
I'm typing http://192.168.0.1/ to access my modem's interface but nothing works, it says the internet can't display this page. I have the same modem mentioned above (cbw704ew)
and the same connection issues, I would like to disable its firewall. Thank you in advance (thenab4ever77@hotmail.com)

I have exactly the same problem on Steam with CZ and Numericable doesn't know how to solve this problem, so if someone has a solution I'm really in need.

    Hi

I found a solution on another forum for issues with Steam.
You need to configure your router by entering the IP address provided in the numericable documentation and set the username to: MSO and the password to: changeme
Then you will have access to all configuration functions
Uncheck the router's firewall and it should work

    Hello Saahn,
I have the same modem as you and the same internet package from Numericable. I've been having problems since I subscribed to this internet package for playing multiplayer on Call of Duty 4.
Could you tell me if you resolved your issue and, if so, can you explain precisely how you did it?
    Thank you in advance.

And what if I tell you that this router is actually the cbv704ew and not the cbw704ew (which doesn't exist since it was a typo).
    Does that help you?

    Do you hear me, galaxy?

    That's strange...
Have you tried it with Firefox, then with IE?
Try without putting http:// to see.
I just retried it and it works for me, so I don't understand. This is what is indicated in the router manual.
Check it to see if the access address is different for you.

Yeah, I tested it with IE and Firefox, and it's definitely the address written on the back of the modem T_T. I really don't know what to do. His firewall is blocking me completely.

Bonjour, je suis chez Numericable et j'ai un modem Castelnet CBV704EW. Comment configurer mes paramètres pour avoir eMule en high ID au lieu de low ID ? Merci.

      Hi

I found this on a forum, and having struggled with the CBV704EW router as well as with the incompetent NOOS hotline, I'm sharing it.

      Hello,

If you have the CBV704EW A1 model (check for the presence of "A1" on the back of the device), you cannot connect using the login MSO / changeme. Leave MSO as the username, and try the password KsaB1anK
Be careful with uppercase and lowercase letters.
Once in the device's interface, click on "Firewall" then on the "Internet Filter" button. Unchecking the "Firewall Protection" box might help you.

I hope this can help you.

Great, I can play BF2142 again now that the castelnet firewall was blocking incoming connections before.

    Hello?

Other than putting my computer in DMZ, I still have no solution (and viruses are having a field day..).
I can't believe that no one has managed to open specific ports on this router!

    Please, help :'(

I doubt that an open port would be enough to let the game run properly..
In my opinion, try the second solution and disable your firewall while you play, don't forget to turn it back on afterwards and to run regular scans with Ad-Aware or SuperAntiSpyware.

    There you go, thanks again!

    Hi!
Unfortunately, the A2 version of Castlenet (cbv704ew a2) does not allow the use of MSO-KsaB1ank or MSO-changeme...
Has anyone heard of any new identifier that would finally allow us to disable the firewall?

    Thank you in advance!

For my part, it is impossible for me to open my ports for eMule. I have a good level of IT knowledge. I open my ports in the advanced settings, I test the ports, it works, but a few minutes later, if I try again, it doesn't work anymore! I thought about disabling IP flood protection, etc..., but for now it doesn't work. Can someone help me?

Hello, for my part, I went to port forwarding, then on the same line the same port, then TCP, then enabled it. On the second line, the same port twice but this time UDP, then enabled it, then applied it. It works for me.
    I hope I helped you.

    Hello,

I recently got the game, brand new, functional after I tested it for almost 6 months with a friend's game (so not official, not great!).
Happy to be able to play online, I change my CD key to the valid one I just bought for a tidy sum.
    So far, so good.
I have the latest version, all updated, etc.
I go to join a server... and then it's a disaster. When it comes to the data synchronization, it waits several minutes before telling me it’s a failure.

I come across this topic, and several others like it. I'm thinking great, some tweaks.
Castelnet modem, like mine: login password; admin/password, normal.
There, first surprise: we can’t disable the firewall... well, let’s move on.
I set my ports which I test with https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=XX (where XX = port number) it tells me okay, everything works fine... in theory.

I retest, no better. Exactly the same problem.
I allow the game in the firewall... same.
I uninstall and reinstall the game... in v1.6 it seems to almost work. I manage to join a game, but it gives me the little disconnect symbol as soon as I arrive in the game, so impossible to play, of course.
All cheerful, I think this time it's just a versioning issue...
... I switch to 1.7 and there, back to square one...

If anyone has a solution, I sincerely thank you, I am on the edge of the abyss, I’m fed up with spending money for it to not work any better than with a joyfully pirated game.

    Hello =)

So I have an issue with my router as well.

I'm trying to unblock the ports for optimized use of uTorrent. I can't fill in the table correctly and I still have the symbol indicating that my connection is limited due to the firewall or the router :(

    Could someone please help me?

      Hey,

I have a solution to your problem. It took me some time to figure it out, but Numéricable doesn’t give you administrator access to your router.

To access all configurations (including disabling the firewall), you need to log in under the following session:

      Login: MSO
      Password: changeme

In the firewall section, you will finally have the option to remove it.

      I hope this helps you!
