My PC is overheating and turning off!!! Solved

Hello,

I've read pretty much everywhere similar posts to my problems, but I think nothing is better than personal help with personal indications...
My PC is a year and a half old; it's an Acer desktop, and so far there's been no issue. However, about 6 months ago, the fan started making quite a lot of noise... I didn't worry about it until now, but I should have; it wasn't normal!!!
Only one month ago did it start shutting down from time to time without me really worrying... In the meantime, I moved, and a week later, it began shutting down every five minutes!!!! It's annoying!!! I can't do anything!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it was a virus, but I downloaded SpeedFan and noticed that temperatures were already rising to incredible levels!!!! Plus, at 83°, it shut down!!! Right now I'm at 80°, so it won't be long lol
So I'm calling on you if you see a solution without me having to take it in for repairs since it's no longer under warranty... Thank you very much in advance...

Hello,

Well, no more worries!!!!!!!!!! I opened up the belly and there was so much dust that it covered everything lol and in the fan, there was so much compact dust that it looked like cotton!!!!!!! I cleaned it all up perfectly
So not only did it turn back on lol phew!!! But it's not making any noise anymore... its temperature doesn't exceed 51° so it doesn't shut down anymore!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm super happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put or have a larger fan installed (and properly secured, as yours may not be well attached to the processor) on the motherboard, check that the one on the graphics card is working, and possibly add one to the power supply to ventilate the case. This doesn't represent a big expense, certainly much less than a processor that has burned out!

If I may suggest, a good vacuuming of all your fans can be effective even if your noisy fan deserves to be replaced.

One simple thing, if you've never cleaned your fan, do it. In 2 years, if you haven't done it, a lot of dust accumulates on your fan and therefore your CPU cooling performance is inevitably reduced. But still, change it if you think it's really worn out... but in the meantime, it could be that a simple cleaning allows for better ventilation, and so it may stop shutting down every 5 minutes...

My PC had the same problem, so I opened it up and dusted it (with a brush, please!). After that, it was faster, but it died (for the third time, it's getting annoying), and I have to wait about a week for it to work again for three days, no more...

I had the same problem, my PC would shut down every time it overheated, this was due to the fan, it might be better to get it repaired. My PC was still under warranty and they replaced it for me. I hope I could help you.

In fact, your fan is full of dust; I have the same issue with my HP. Try to remove the dust or place your computer on a sturdy and sufficiently large book.

Hello, if for this overheating issue you don't need a lot of resources (like RAM-heavy games, etc.), I found a pretty easy method: Go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Power Options, and then check Power saver. Next, click on Change plan settings, configure the sleep time, etc., then click on Change advanced power settings:
- In the Wireless Adapter Settings tab, go to Power Saving Mode and set it to either Low Power Saving if you are far from your internet access point "box"; or Medium Power Saving if you are next to your "box"; and if you are connected via Ethernet cable, set everything to Maximum Power Saving.
- In the PCI Express tab, set everything to Maximum Power Saving.
- In the Processor Power Management tab, go to Maximum processor state and set it between 30% and 50%; personally, I set it to 40%.
- In the Search and Indexing tab, go to Power Saving Mode and set it to either Balanced or Power Saving.
- In the Display tab, go to Display brightness and reduce it if you haven't done so already.

My technique aims to reduce the calculations of the motherboard and its components to thus reduce the heat produced as a result.
Your computer will be a bit slower, but it won't shut down due to overheating anymore.
This technique works on my Packard Bell equipped with Windows Vista.
If possible, buy an external fan (for the computer of course ^^) to further reduce the heat.

A TRUE SOLUTION, EASY, ECONOMICAL, ACCESSIBLE TO ALL!

More than eight months ago, my PC was heating up so much that I was almost burning my fingers on the parts near the fan, plus it made a noise like a jet plane and it had already shut down twice before I had an idea.
This simple and effective idea is to use those blue blocks that you put in coolers after freezing them in the freezer.
If the room temperature is not very high, I place one block only in the semi-rigid bag of my PC and then I set the PC on top of the bag. Of course, I make sure that the blue block, which is smaller than the PC, is positioned underneath the fan since that’s where it heats up (I place a book of the same size next to it for balance). If the PC is already too hot or if the room temperature is high, I slide two blocks into the bag.
There, at the beginning of July 2015, it was really very hot (between 31 and 32 in the room) and my PC was getting really hot, so I was even more radical, I stuck the blue blocks (wrapped in paper towels) directly under its belly and it loved it. And one day when it was heating up dangerously and I didn’t need the keyboard because I was watching a movie, I also put a blue block (still wrapped in paper) on the keyboard. Sandwiched between two blue blocks, it calmed down immediately.
One block lasts, depending on the room temperature, between an hour and a half (very high heat) and four hours (winter). I have four that rotate in a loop.
I use my PC all day and almost never turn it off; it’s three years old and yet it’s still going strong! (including eight months of overheating successfully managed thanks to the blue blocks)
The only downside is that I can never be far from a freezer!
(In my case, I do have to stay plugged in anyway since my battery barely charges anymore).
I want to say that without a blue block, in less than fifteen minutes of use, my PC overheats dangerously and the fan goes crazy. Thanks to the blue blocks, it cools down in a few minutes and I only hear the fan when the current block is completely thawed. I know then that I need to replace it.

It's quite simple actually, you just need to remove the grille on your computer case to prevent it from overheating. If your computer is pressed against a wall or somewhere else, the air it vents will come back into the case, knowing that it's hot air. Personally, I did this, and my computer hasn't shut down since :p
