startup issue with American Megatrends Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

when I start my PC, I get the following message from American Megatrends:
CMS setting wrong
CMOS date/timer not set
overclocking failed! please enter setup to reconfigure your system
press F1 to run setup
press F2 to load default values and continue

can someone tell me what my problem is and how to resolve it?

The BIOS does not retain the settings => replace with a new battery.

IT'S BACK UP and my PC is working again, but I would like to know what the problem actually was to avoid a more serious issue. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

That's it! And when I press F2 it takes me to the BIOS and I don't know what to do, it always brings me back to the American screen that appears during startup!! Thank you for getting back to me as soon as possible, I'm going abroad soon and I would really like to have my laptop!!!!!

You need to reset the BIOS by removing the battery for 3 minutes and putting it back; there will be no more password!    --  £/_T0n|0_59

Hello,

I have the same problem for over a year. When I start my computer, I see the "American Megatrends" logo with a bunch of messages similar to "MIKE JFI."
If I press F2, the computer starts normally. But when the desktop appears, the time shown in the bottom right corner of the screen is incorrect. It always shows 11:01 PM, and if I click on the calendar, I’m then in "December 2001."
Two computer technicians told me, like in your posts, that it was the battery inside the PC that is worn out. So, I had it replaced. However, when I restart my computer to check if everything is in order, bingo, the problem persists!!!

So if it's not the battery, what could it be???
If any of you have the solution!!!

It's a small flat battery, diameter ~2cm, on the motherboard.

I had the same problem, so I replaced the battery and flashed my BIOS with the latest BIOS found on the manufacturer's website for my motherboard, and everything went back to normal.

I have this AMERICAN MEGATRENDS problem
I press F1 but I can't access Google until I've set the date and time correctly (it automatically resets to 2007 as soon as I turn it off)
Next, we opened the laptop (Asus VISTA premium) to remove and change the battery
Be careful, I regularly cleaned the fan but now it's impossible to access the battery without completely removing the bottom – after carefully removing about 20 screws, the battery is still inaccessible but visible)
Everything is back together and it works... but
WITH the American M. on startup
