AMI American Megatrends Screen Appears on PC Startup Solved

Hello,

I need your help.

Indeed, for several weeks now, when I start my eee PC, AMI American Megatrends appears on my screen, and in order to start my PC correctly, I have to press the F2 key. It's only after that that my laptop starts up properly.

Unfortunately, I'm really bad with computers, and even after reading various things on the subject in forums, I’m still just as lost.

I hope you can help me understand what this corresponds to (virus, problem with my PC, etc.), and how to solve the issue?

I have the same problem but not with a laptop; if I understood correctly, I need to press F2 to normally access Windows and then change the date and time to set them to today’s date and time, right?

Hello,

It's coming from your BIOS.

First solution: Go into the BIOS (when starting the computer) and change the date and time.

Second solution: Change the small battery in your computer which is probably dead. (but I would lean towards the first solution)

What do you mean by "changing the date and time"? Because both are up to date. Do I just need to set a different time?

And how come this thing suddenly appeared overnight? Before, it happened once in a while. Now, it keeps showing up constantly. Where is it coming from?

There are several requests on this subject regarding how it works. Apparently, the most common issues would be the battery and the date/time change in the BIOS.

Yes, I checked out some discussions but none of them really helped me like you just did. So thank you very much. I simply scrolled through the numbers that allowed me to change the time, resetting it to the current time, and I restarted my PC twice and the AMI no longer appeared.

One last quick question: it seems that my PC starts up faster. Is that possible or is it just an illusion?
